Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)

Location: Atlanta, Georgia
Specialty: Registered Nurse (CVOR)
Contract Length: 14 weeks


Job Details

  • Unit Details:
    • Weekend rotation: To be discussed during interview
    • Call: Yes/variable (typically one weekday call per week and one weekend call every 5-6 weeks)
    • Floating: Within facility/scope of practice as needed
  • Minimum Experience: 2 years (unit accepts first-time travelers)
  • Prior Travel Experience: Not explicitly required
  • Return to Office (RTO): Maximum 7 days
  • Holiday Work:
    • If 1 major holiday falls during assignment, traveler expected to work it
    • If 2 major holidays fall, traveler expected to work both
    • If 3 major holidays fall, traveler expected to work two of them
  • Major Holidays Include: Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving/Black Friday, Christmas Eve/Day, New Year’s Eve/Day
  • Compliance: Full compliance required to start on time; delays in compliance may push start date by 2 weeks due to bi-weekly orientation schedule
  • Locals Accepted: Yes, at the same rate
  • Orientation Hours: Number of non-billable orientation hours depends on contract length (e.g., 8 hours for 8-week assignment)

Required Certifications & Competencies

  • Certifications:
    • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) – Required for CVOR specialty
    • BLS (Basic Life Support)
    • NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Procedure) – Refer to unit description for requirement
    • EFM (Electronic Fetal Monitoring) – Online course required within a few months of hire (no renewal required)
    • State License Verification (Georgia)
    • NURSYS Verification (RN) – Annual
    • Tech Cert Verification (if applicable)
    • NIH Stroke Certification – Check unit description for requirement
  • Competency Exams:
    • Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam (required for RNs)
    • Color Blind Testing Online (required for all candidates)
    • Dysrhythmia/EKG Competency Exam (required for CVOR and related specialties)
    • General Competency Exam (required for nursing by agency)

Health & Background Requirements

  • Background Checks:
    • Must be completed within 30 days of start
    • Includes criminal, sex offender, education verification, and others as per facility guidelines
  • Health Documents:
    • Physical exam within 12 months of start (required by agency)
    • Negative TB test or chest x-ray within 12 months (two negative tests required for privileging specialties)
    • TB Questionnaire (updated annually)
    • Immunizations:
      • Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Rubella – 2 MMR vaccines or positive titer
      • Hepatitis B Series or Surface Antibody Titer (declination form required if negative)
      • Varicella – 2 vaccines or positive titer
      • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (highly recommended, required for privileging specialties)
    • Drug Testing: Negative 10-panel drug screen within 30 days of start
    • Flu Seasonal Vaccination or Declination (strongly encouraged during flu season)

Additional Requirements

  • References: 2 clinical references required by agency
  • Skills Checklist: Updated within 12 months, annual update required
  • Work History Verification: Verification of most recent employer required; can be pending at start with proof of processing

Notes

  • Privileging specialties (such as CVOR Certified Surgical First Assistant and RNFA) have additional compliance and documentation requirements, including vaccine declination forms and additional TB testing.
  • Candidate must review and sign facility-specific policies such as Code of Conduct and Dress/Professional Appearance Policy prior to start.
  • Clinical screening will be conducted to determine clinical fit before final manager approval.

This position is suitable for Registered Nurses with at least 2 years of experience, including first-time travelers, interested in a 14-week travel contract in a CVOR specialty in Atlanta, Georgia.
