Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (Ortho Specialty)
Location: Burlington, North Carolina
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Details
- Schedule: 3x12 hour shifts, Days (7:00 AM - 7:30 PM)
- Every other weekend (Saturday and Sunday)
- No call required
- Float to other units as needed
- Unit: 29-bed unit caring for adults through geriatrics, including orthopedic and medical-surgical patients
- Telemetry monitoring available
- Patient population includes total joint replacements, fracture repairs, kyphoplasties, and other surgical and medical patients
Required Qualifications
- Experience: Minimum 2 years Registered Nurse experience
- Prior Travel Experience: Required (must have completed at least 1 prior travel contract)
- Certifications:
- BLS (Basic Life Support) required
- Charge RN experience required
- Licensure: Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license for North Carolina
- Testing: Pass/Fail EKG exam required for all RNs
- Additional Requirements:
- Government-issued photo ID
- Social Security Card
- Background check within 60 days covering all locations lived/worked/schooled in past 7 years
- Education verification (Associate's degree in nursing or higher required)
- Drug screening (10-panel, negative result required)
- Immunizations and health documents including Tdap, TB test, MMR, Hepatitis B, Varicella, Flu vaccine or approved exemptions
- References: 2 supervisory references required (one within 12 months, one within 24 months)
- Employment application/resume with 7-year work history
- Work history verification for last 5 years
- Annual skills checklist
- Orientation Safety Manual Acknowledgement
- Acknowledgement of Pass/Fail Testing (EKG/Medication)
- NURSYS license verification within 60 days of start
Compliance and Facility Specific Requirements
- Candidates must complete a health history form and upload prior to clearance
- Badge photo must meet strict facility requirements (no selfies, solid color background, business casual or uniform attire)
- Floating policy acknowledgment required
- Contractor equipment acknowledgment form required
- Fit mask test (N95) completed within current calendar year and updated annually
- Fingerprinting required only for Home Health and Long-Term Care positions (not applicable here)
- EPIC test required for RNs starting 9/19/23 (2 attempts allowed, 3rd attempt requires manager approval)
Patient Care Environment
- Moderate to high volume orthopedic and medical-surgical patients
- Physical therapy gym available on unit for patient rehab
- Telemetry monitoring capabilities
Summary
This is a 13-week travel contract for an experienced Registered Nurse with orthopedic specialty experience. Prior travel experience and charge nurse experience are mandatory. The position offers day shifts with every other weekend off and no call. The role requires comprehensive compliance with background checks, immunizations, certifications, and facility-specific policies.
