Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (MS/Tele)

Location: Burlington, North Carolina
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Description

  • Schedule: 3x12 hour shifts, nights (7 PM - 7:30 AM), every other weekend (EOW), holidays as needed
  • Float required: All travelers must float between all facilities within the system
  • Patient population: Inpatient unit with a variety of patients, specializing in stroke (neuro) care
  • Nurse-to-patient ratio: 1:5 to 1:6
  • Experience with multiple co-morbidities required

Required Experience

  • Minimum 2 years of Registered Nurse experience (specialty experience)
  • First-time travelers are accepted (prior travel experience not required)

Required Skills and Competencies

  • Telemetry experience: remote monitoring required; on-unit monitoring preferred
  • Feeding tube care and management
  • Accessing ports, blood product administration
  • Central line, peripheral line, and PICC line care/management
  • Starting IVs
  • Care for CVA patients and use of nasal cannula
  • Isolation precautions
  • Wound care and wound vac management
  • Experience with patient ratios of 1:5-6

Required Certifications and Licenses

  • North Carolina RN license (Primary source verification required within 30 days of start)
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA or ARC certified
  • NIH Stroke Certification (required for Cardiac Progressive Care, MS/Tele units)
  • Pass/Fail EKG/Dysrhythmia exam required for all RNs (except Behavioral Health and Case Managers)
  • EPIC system proficiency (Pass/Fail EPIC test required)
  • Other certifications may be preferred or required depending on unit (e.g., ACLS, PALS, NRP, TNCC) — verify with program management if unclear

Compliance and Documentation Requirements

  • Government-issued photo ID (Driver’s License or State ID)
  • Social Security Card
  • Background check within 60 days covering all locations lived/worked/schooled in past 7 years
  • Education verification (Associate’s degree in nursing or higher required)
  • Transcript/Diploma as proof of highest education
  • Employment application/resume with 7-year work history
  • Verification of employment history for last 5 years
  • Two supervisory references required (one within 12 months, one within 24 months)
  • Annual skills checklist (must be updated within one week grace period)
  • Physical exam (if applicable)
  • Immunizations and health documents including:
    • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap
    • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 6 months
    • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccination or positive titer
    • Hepatitis B titer or declination
    • Varicella vaccination or positive titer
    • Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption
  • Negative 10-panel drug screen within 40 days of start
  • Fit mask test (annual)
  • Fingerprinting (if applicable for Home Health and Long-Term Care roles)

Additional Notes

  • Zero-tolerance policy for tardiness and unexcused absences
  • Candidates must be flexible with scheduling
  • Floating between facilities is mandatory for all travelers
  • Candidates must complete and pass all required competency exams and certifications prior to start
  • Badge photo must meet strict facility requirements (no selfies, solid color background, business casual or uniform attire)

This position offers an opportunity to work in a specialized neuro/stroke inpatient unit with a supportive team and a structured schedule. It is suitable for RNs with at least 2 years of experience who are comfortable with telemetry and complex patient care. First-time travel nurses are welcome to apply.
