Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (RN Step Down)

Location: Elmira, New York
Employment Type: Long-Term Assignment (LTA)
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Description

  • Work in a Step Down unit with patient ratios:
    • 3:1 ratio in Step Down
    • 5:1 ratio on day shift
    • 7:1 ratio on night shift
  • Responsibilities include:
    • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
    • Pushing, pulling, lifting
    • Medication administration
    • Patient assessments
    • Developing and managing care plans
    • Effective communication and teamwork

Required Qualifications

Licensure

  • Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license for New York State
  • State License Verification required (completed within 30 days prior to start)

Certifications

  • BLS (Basic Life Support) - American Heart Association (AHA) only
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - AHA only
  • 8 Hours of Stroke Training (including NHISS) required for certain units (3-4 hours NHISS + 4-5 hours additional stroke training)

Competency and Skills

  • Completion of Arnot Skills Checklist for the unit assigned (updated annually)
  • Passing score (80% or higher) on Arnot Core Competency Exam for RNs
  • Fit Test for approved respirators (annual requirement)
  • Compliance with Arnot-specific policies and procedures, including job description acknowledgment

Health and Immunization Requirements

  • COVID-19 vaccine or agency declination (preferred but optional)
  • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) immunity verification via positive IgG titer or 2 vaccine series
  • Hepatitis B immunity or declination form
  • Influenza vaccine or declination form (mask required if declined)
  • Varicella immunity via positive IgG titer or 2 vaccine series
  • Tdap vaccine or declination form (preferred, not required)
  • Tuberculosis (TB) testing within last 12 months (PPD or Quantiferon/Spot test)
  • Physical/Health Statement within last 12 months, including vitals and vision screening
  • Agency Drug Screen (9+ panel) within 30 days of start
  • Agency Background Check within 30 days of start, including criminal and address trace reports

Documentation and Verification

  • Valid US Driver’s License or State ID (not expired)
  • Arnot Resume documenting employment and education history for last 7 years
  • Two professional references (one within last 12 months, one within last 3 years)
  • Employment verification from most recent employer(s)
  • Education verification for initial nursing degree (ASN or BSN)
  • Completion of Arnot Health Personal Information Form, Code of Conduct, Confirmation of Assignment, Self Study Packet and Quiz, Sexual Harassment Acknowledgement, Parking Registration Form
  • 7 Instant Background Checks (including NYOMIG, OFAC, OIG, PA Registry, NSO, SAM, NY Registry)
  • Arnot Color Headshot photo
  • Signed and dated Arnot Job Description
  • AH Drug Tobacco Acknowledgement form
