Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse - Telemetry Unit
Location: Augusta, Georgia
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 14 weeks
Patient Population
- Adults to Geriatrics
Unit & Work Setting
- Telemetry unit
- Diagnoses include CHF, MI/Chest pain (pre- and post-cath), Dysrhythmias (pre- and post-device implants), Hypo-/Hypertension, Pleural effusion, Sepsis, PE/DVT/vascular issues
- Ratio/Census: 1:4-5; 36 rooms with average daily census of 35
- Unit Systems: Epic (required), Pyxis, SBAR
- Scrub Color: Navy Blue
Schedule & Work Conditions
- Return to Office (RTO): Maximum 7 days
- RTO Blackout Dates: Spring Break (April 4th-12th)
- Weekends: Every other weekend
- Floating: Yes, within facility/scope of practice as needed
- Call Requirements: None
- Holidays: Expected to work major holidays if they fall during assignment (Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving/Black Friday, Christmas Eve/Day, New Years Eve/Day)
Required Experience
- Minimum 2 years of specialty experience (Registered Nurse in Telemetry)
- 1st time travelers accepted
- Prior travel experience: Not required
Required Certifications
- BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA or ARC accepted
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - Required for this specialty; AHA or ARC accepted
- NIH Stroke Certification - Preferred (check unit description)
Required Licenses
- Valid Registered Nurse license in the state of Georgia
- Annual NURSYS verification required within 30 days prior to start
Competency Requirements
- Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam (required by agency)
- Color Blind Testing (required for all candidates)
- Competency Exam (required by agency)
- Dysrhythmia/EKG Competency Exam (required for Telemetry)
- Candidates allowed 3 attempts; failure on third attempt results in cancellation
Health & Background Requirements
- Physical exam within 12 months of start (required by agency)
- Negative TB test or chest x-ray within 12 months (PPD, QGold, or TSpot)
- TB Questionnaire updated annually (required for all candidates)
- Immunizations:
- Rubeola (Measles): 2 MMR vaccines or positive titer
- Mumps: 2 MMR vaccines or positive titer
- Rubella: 2 MMR vaccines or positive titer
- Varicella: 2 vaccines or positive titer
- Hepatitis B series, surface antibody titer, or signed declination
- Negative 10-panel drug screen within 30 days of start (includes Amphetamines, Methamphetamine, Barbiturates, Benzodiazepines, Cocaine, Methadone, Opiates, Phencyclidine, Propoxyphene, THC)
- Seasonal Flu Vaccination or Declination required (strongly encouraged during flu season)
Additional Notes
- Clinical screening required to determine clinical fit before final approval
- Full compliance with all requirements needed to start on time; delays may result in a 2-week pushback due to orientation scheduling
- Locals accepted at same rate
- Number of non-billable orientation hours depends on contract length (e.g., 14 weeks = 14 hours)
This position offers the opportunity to work in a dynamic telemetry unit caring for adult and geriatric patients with complex cardiac and vascular conditions, supported by a robust electronic medical record system and a collaborative team environment.
