Job Opportunity: RN Step Down (Travel)

Location: Brookfield, Wisconsin
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Description

  • Provide care for a wide variety of patients including stroke, cardiac (preferably cardiac drips), post-op patients (ortho, GU, GYN, general surgery), and general medical patients.
  • Must be adaptable and able to float onsite within skill set or to sites within 40 miles if needed.
  • Schedule includes every 3rd weekend and end of hour (EOH) shifts.
  • Requires at least 2 years of experience in Medical-Surgical (MS) or Intermediate Care Unit (IMCU).

Required Qualifications

  • License: Current RN license valid in Wisconsin.
  • Certifications:
    • BLS (AHA)
    • ACLS (AHA)
  • Experience: Minimum 2 years in Medical-Surgical or Intermediate Care Unit.
  • Vaccinations & Health Requirements:
    • Documented proof of two MMR vaccines or positive IGG titer (no declinations accepted).
    • Hepatitis B vaccination series completion or signed declination.
    • Influenza vaccine (seasonal; exemptions accepted with mask requirement).
    • Documented proof of two Varicella vaccines, serological immunity, or history verified by healthcare provider (no declinations accepted).
    • Tdap vaccine valid within 10 years (no declinations accepted).
    • TB screening: Positive IGRA or PPD results, chest X-ray within one year showing no infection, and annual TB questionnaire.
  • Other Health & Compliance:
    • Fit test for N95 respirators (3M 1860 Regular, 3M 1860 Small, or 3M 1870+), updated annually.
    • Statement of good health or completed physical exam prior to first assignment, updated annually.
  • Background & Screening:
    • Criminal background check including Social Security Trace, OIG Search, National Sex Offender, and other required screenings.
    • Drug screening: 12 panel urine drug screen within 30 days prior to start, updated annually.
  • Professional Verification:
    • Nursys license verification within 30 days prior to start.
    • Primary source verification of license/certification within 30 days prior to start.
    • Education verification within 90 days prior to start.
    • Employment verification for the past seven years.
    • At least two professional references completed prior to first assignment.
  • Competency & Testing:
    • Specialty exam demonstrating competency in RN Step Down specialty, minimum 80% passing score, updated every 3 years.
    • Core competencies including HIPAA, Joint Commission, NPSG, OSHA topics, updated every 3 years.
    • EKG exam with passing score of at least 80%, updated every 3 years.
    • Color vision test completed prior to start and updated every 3 years.
    • Skills checklist completed within one year of start and updated annually.
    • Epic test-out and training checklist with signed attestation.
  • Onboarding Requirements:
    • Completion of Ascension onboarding education attestation and nursing contract worker onboarding modules.
    • Badge photo with white or blue background (no alterations).
