Job Opportunity: Telemetry Registered Nurse

Location: Stockbridge, Georgia
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 14 weeks


Job Summary

Seeking an experienced Telemetry Registered Nurse to provide care for adult to geriatric patients in an Overflow IMCU setting. The role involves managing cardiac arrhythmias, cardioversion, CHF, chest pain, renal and pulmonary conditions, post cardiac catheterization care, and other medical/surgical patients. Experience with cardiac drips and hemodynamic monitoring is essential.


Required Experience

  • Minimum 1 year of specialty experience in Telemetry nursing (higher years of experience not indicated)
  • Prior travel experience is required (1st timers not accepted)

Patient Population

  • Adults to Geriatrics

Certifications Required

  • BLS (Basic Life Support)
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)

Clinical Skills & Responsibilities

  • Management of arrhythmias including stable A-Fib, SVT, Bradycardia
  • Cardioversion and care of patients with cardiac CHF, chest pain, renal and pulmonary issues (COPD, pulmonary edema, PE, DVT)
  • Care for post cardiac catheterization patients including TR Bands and cardiac drips (amiodarone, cardizem, dobutamine, dopamine, nitroglycerin, milrinone, heparin, argatroban, aggrastat, bumex, lasix)
  • Surgical patient care including cholecystectomy, appendectomy, chest tubes, biliary drains
  • Occasional vascular, orthopedic, or CVA patient overflow
  • Basic arrhythmia knowledge and cardiac drip management required
  • Experience with hemodynamic monitoring and post PCI care

Work Environment & Schedule

  • Patient ratio approximately 1:5-6 with 32 beds
  • Unit uses Epic (preferred), Pyxis, SBAR systems
  • Scrub color: Navy Blue
  • Return to Office (RTO): Maximum 7 days
  • Weekend shifts: Every other weekend
  • Floating: Yes, within facility and scope of practice
  • Call: Rare, 2-hour response time; travelers typically do not manage Precedex
  • Holiday work: Required to work major holidays if they fall during assignment (Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving/Black Friday, Christmas Eve/Day, New Year’s Eve/Day)

Compliance & Orientation

  • Full compliance required to start on time; delays result in 2-week pushback due to bi-weekly orientation schedule
  • Clinical screening required to determine fit before final manager approval
  • Number of non-billable orientation hours depends on contract length

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Registered Nurse license for Georgia
  • Current BLS and ACLS certifications
  • Prior travel experience required (no first-time travelers)

Health & Background Requirements

  • Negative 10-panel drug screen within 30 days of start (includes amphetamines, methamphetamine, barbiturates, benzodiazepines, cocaine, methadone, opiates, phencyclidine, propoxyphene, THC)
  • Physical exam within 12 months of start
  • Negative TB test or chest x-ray within 12 months; TB questionnaire updated annually
  • Immunizations or titers for Measles, Mumps, Rubella (2 MMR vaccines or positive titer)
  • Varicella immunity (2 vaccines or positive titer)
  • Hepatitis B series, titer, or signed declination
  • Seasonal flu vaccination or declination required
  • Background check completed within 30 days of start
  • Education verification required (degree or transcripts)
  • Skills checklist updated within 12 months
  • Work history verification of most recent employer

Competency Exams

  • Medication/Pharmacology competency exam
  • Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam (3 attempts allowed; failure results in cancellation)
  • Color blind testing

Additional Notes

  • Locals accepted at same rate
  • Floating within facility as needed
  • Call is rare and limited in scope for travelers

This position is ideal for a Telemetry RN with solid cardiac and medical-surgical experience who has prior travel contract experience and is ready to work in a fast-paced IMCU environment.
