Job Opportunity: Telemetry Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)

Location: Stockbridge, Georgia
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 14 weeks


Job Summary

Seeking an experienced Telemetry Registered Nurse to provide care for adult to geriatric patients in an Overflow IMCU setting. The role involves managing cardiac arrhythmias, cardioversion, CHF, chest pain, renal and pulmonary conditions, post cardiac catheterization care, and other medical/surgical patients. Experience with cardiac drips and hemodynamic monitoring is essential.


Required Experience

  • Minimum 1 year of specialty experience in Telemetry nursing.
  • Prior travel experience required (1st time travelers not accepted).

Patient Population

  • Adults to Geriatrics

Certifications Required

  • BLS (Basic Life Support)
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)

Clinical Skills & Responsibilities

  • Management of arrhythmias including stable A-Fib, SVT, Bradycardia
  • Cardioversion and care of post PCI patients
  • Experience with cardiac drips: amiodarone, cardizem, dobutamine, dopamine, nitroglycerin, milrinone, heparin, argatroban, aggrastat, bumex, lasix
  • Care for patients with CHF, chest pain, renal and pulmonary issues (COPD, pulmonary edema, PE, DVT)
  • Surgical patient overflow including cholecystectomy, appendectomy, chest tubes, biliary drains
  • Occasional vascular, orthopedic, or CVA patient overflow
  • Hemodynamic monitoring and care of patients post cardiac catheterization
  • Basic arrhythmia knowledge and cardiac drip management

Work Environment

  • Unit census: 32 beds
  • Nurse-to-patient ratio: 1:5-6
  • Unit systems: Epic (preferred), Pyxis, SBAR
  • Scrub color: Navy Blue
  • Floating: Yes, within facility/scope of practice as needed
  • Call: Rare, 2-hour response time
  • Weekend schedule: Every other weekend
  • Holiday work: Required to work major holidays if they fall during assignment

Orientation & Compliance

  • Maximum Return to Office (RTO): 7 days
  • Number of non-billable orientation hours depends on contract length
  • Full compliance required to start on time; delays may result in a 2-week pushback due to orientation scheduling
  • Clinical screening required to determine fit

Required Qualifications

  • Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in Georgia
  • Minimum 1 year Telemetry nursing experience (higher experience requirement takes precedence)
  • Prior travel experience required
  • Current BLS and ACLS certifications

Health & Background Requirements

  • Negative 10-panel drug screen within 30 days of start
  • Physical exam within 12 months of start
  • Negative TB test or chest x-ray within 12 months
  • Annual TB questionnaire
  • Immunizations: MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella), Varicella, Hepatitis B (or declination), Flu vaccine or declination
  • Background check completed prior to start
  • Education verification required (degree or equivalent)
  • Skills checklist within 12 months
  • Work history verification of most recent employer

Competency Exams

  • Medication/Pharmacology competency exam
  • Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam (3 attempts allowed)
  • Color blind testing

Additional Notes

  • Travelers typically do not manage Precedex
  • Must review and sign code of conduct and dress/professional appearance policies prior to start
  • Floating within the facility as needed
  • Must be able to work assigned holidays as per policy

This position is ideal for experienced Telemetry RNs with prior travel assignments who are comfortable managing complex cardiac patients in a fast-paced IMCU environment.
