Job Opportunity: LTC Registered Nurse (RN)

Facility & Unit Information

• Type of Facility: Nursing home attached to hospital
• Number of Beds/Residents: 70 (majority private rooms)
• EMR System: ECS
• Staffing Ratios:

  • RNs: 1:20
  • LPNs: 1:20
  • CNAs: 1:8
• Common Patient Diagnoses: Dementia, frail elderly, rehabilitation patients
• Interdisciplinary Team: Therapy, Administration, Social Workers, Activities, Dietary, Housekeeping
• Respiratory Therapist (RT) on-site 24/7
• Pharmacy on-site with medication dispensing system

Job Duties & Requirements

• Charting, assessments, charge nurse duties, medication administration
• Clinical skills required: IVs, catheters, ostomy care, etc.
• Experience with elderly patients required
• IVs and titratable drips are part of the job
• No telemetry monitors or RN strip reading required
• No requirement to attend team conferences for acute inpatient rehab
• Must be available for floating to other units as needed
• No on-call or standby requirements

Scheduling & Shifts

• Shift Type: Block schedule, 8-hour shifts
• Day/PM Shift Staffing: 4 nurses, 7 aides
• Night Shift Staffing: 2 nurses, 3-4 aides
• Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
• Holiday Requirement: Available for at least half of the holidays during assignment
• 12-hour night shifts also available

Certifications & Orientation

• Required Certification: BLS (AHA)
• Unit/Department Orientation: Varies based on skills
• Dress Code: Any solid color scrubs, clean and professional

Additional Notes

• Physician available after hours
• Director of Nursing (DON), Charge Nurse, and House Supervisor present
• Clinicians must clock in and out at the facility
• Previous employment with this facility requires a minimum 6-month gap before reapplying

This position is suitable for RNs with experience in long-term care and elderly patient populations who are comfortable with clinical skills such as IVs and catheter care, and who prefer a structured block schedule with every other weekend off.
