Job Opportunity: Occupational Therapy Assistant (OTA)
Location: Abilene, Texas
Employment Type: Temporary
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Description
- Execute specialized therapy plans designed by the Occupational Therapist (OT) to guide patients through therapeutic exercises and activities aimed at improving motor skills and coordination.
- Teach patients how to perform Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) such as bathing, dressing, and eating, often using adaptive techniques.
- Instruct patients and families on the use of adaptive equipment like reachers, mobility aids, or modified kitchen utensils.
- Monitor and document patient progress, behavioral changes, and safety concerns; report findings to the supervising OT to adjust treatment plans as needed.
- Provide emotional support to patients and train caregivers on assisting with home programs.
- Prepare treatment areas, clean equipment, and may assist with administrative duties such as scheduling and billing.
Required Qualifications
- Valid Occupational Therapist Assistant license in Texas.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience as an Occupational Therapist Assistant.
- Occupational Therapist Assistant experience within the last year.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Department of Rehabilitation (DOR) patients.
