Job Opportunity: Radiology Interventional Technologist
Location: Detroit, Michigan
Employment Type: Staffing - Supplier Sourced
Contract Length: 13 weeks (89 days ≈ 13 weeks)
Job Summary
Under the direction of a Radiologist, this role specializes in performing invasive radiology procedures to aid in the evaluation of pathological conditions as prescribed by a physician.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities
- Explain examination procedures to patients and prepare them for the exam.
- Obtain additional patient medical history as needed.
- Prepare prescribed contrast media, medications, and IV solutions for administration.
- Review clinical data and analyze patient anatomy to set up equipment and assist Radiologist with complex diagnostic invasive procedures.
- Prepare and set up sterile equipment, physiological monitors, pressure injectors, and imaging equipment.
- Ensure adequate supplies (needles, catheters, etc.) are available and properly stored; replenish as needed.
- Actively assess patient condition before, during, and after procedures.
- Manually control equipment to obtain proper diagnostic images.
- Assist with training new personnel or students assigned to the division.
- Perform imaging procedures following radiation protection principles (shielding, dose reduction, ALARA techniques).
- Resolve image exceptions and ensure high-quality image delivery into PACS; confirm image/series counts.
- Complete study indexing in Radiology Information System (RIS) including study begin, end, and completion.
- Consistently demonstrate team standards including communication, positive attitude, innovation, and respect for diversity.
- Perform Quality Assurance procedures and all necessary documentation in medical records and radiology systems.
- Use independent judgment for imaging techniques, patient positioning, and safety practices.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of 3 years of experience as an Interventional Radiology Technologist, including experience within the last year.
- Experience as a Cath Lab Technologist.
- Registered Radiologic Technologist (ARRT) certification.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association.
- Experience working with Level 1 Trauma patients.
