Job Summary

The Registered Nurse (RN) is responsible for protecting, promoting, and optimizing health and abilities, preventing illness and injury, and alleviating suffering through diagnosis, treatment, and advocacy. The RN ensures compliance with professional standards and promotes a caring, patient-centered environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Assess, plan, delegate, coordinate, implement, and evaluate nursing care for a group of patients.
• Serve as primary or accountable nurse as assigned.
• Educate patients and families on health promotion and disease management.
• Administer medications safely using pharmacology knowledge.
• Manage productivity and resource utilization including staffing and supplies.
• Comply with nursing practice standards, regulatory requirements, and policies.
• Participate in Nursing Shared Governance, improvement initiatives, and peer review.
• Engage in professional development and complete mandatory education.
• Integrate nursing research and evidence-based practice.
• Support learning environment for new employees and students.

Required Qualifications

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in New York State.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in Cardiac Stepdown nursing, including experience within the last year.
• Experience in Cardiac Progressive Care Unit (PCU) and Telemetry PCU settings.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
• Current Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association.
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).
• Experience in nursing management roles.
• Experience with cardiac-specific procedures and equipment, including Watchman devices, mitral clips, heart catheterizations, and administration of cardiac drips at a flat rate.
