Job Opportunity: Staff Nurse - Emergency Department

Location: Binghamton, New York
Employment Type: Clinical Nursing
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Summary

The Registered Nurse (RN) in the Emergency Department is responsible for protecting, promoting, and optimizing patient health and abilities, preventing illness and injury, and alleviating suffering through diagnosis, treatment, and advocacy. The RN ensures compliance with professional standards and promotes a patient-centered, healing environment.


Key Responsibilities

  • Assess, plan, delegate, coordinate, implement, and evaluate nursing care for a group of patients.
  • Serve as primary or accountable nurse as assigned.
  • Educate patients and families on health promotion and disease management.
  • Administer medications safely according to hospital policy.
  • Manage resources effectively including staffing, time, and supplies.
  • Comply with nursing practice standards, regulatory requirements, and hospital policies.
  • Participate in Nursing Shared Governance, improvement initiatives, and peer review.
  • Engage in professional development and complete mandatory education.
  • Integrate nursing research and evidence-based practice.
  • Support learning for new employees and students.
  • Perform Charge Nurse or Shift Coordinator duties when assigned.

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in New York State.
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) from an accredited school.
  • Minimum of 1 year of recent Emergency Department (ED) experience within the last year.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification.
  • Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course (ENPC) certification.
  • Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC) certification.
