Job Opportunity: RRT-NICU (Respiratory / Neuro Diagnostics)

Contract Length: 12 weeks

Job Summary

• Provide respiratory care services including evaluation and treatment of cardiopulmonary function and impairment.
• Attend all high-risk C-sections and deliveries to manage neonate airways per Neonatal Protocol.
• Responsible for airway management and ventilatory support during resuscitations.
• Provide ventilatory care in Emergency Department, ICU/CCU, PACU, and Level III nursery.
• Work under supervision of a licensed physician.
• Patient care decisions based on assessment data and diagnostic information.
• Weekend schedule: Every other weekend.
• No on-call required.
• Floating within facility/scope of practice as needed.

Required Experience

• Minimum 2 years of experience in specialty.
• First-time travelers accepted (prior travel experience NOT required).

Required Qualifications

• Must hold a valid Georgia Respiratory Therapist (RRT) license.
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification required.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
• Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification required.
• Electronic Fetal Monitoring (EFM) course required within a few months of hire.
• State license verification within 30 days prior to start.

Compliance & Orientation

• Full compliance with all requirements is mandatory to start on time.
• Orientation hours vary by contract length (e.g., 12 weeks = approx. 12 hours).
• Must work major holidays if they fall during assignment (expectation to work 1-2 holidays depending on number during contract).

Health & Background Requirements

• Negative 10-panel drug screen within 60 days of start (no pending results).
• Background check required within 30 days of start, including education verification.
• Physical exam within 12 months of start.
• Immunizations/vaccinations required or documented:

  • TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months.
  • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (Tdap highly recommended).
  • Measles, Mumps, Rubella (2 MMR vaccines or positive titer).
  • Varicella (2 vaccines or positive titer).
  • Hepatitis B surface antibody titer or signed declination.
  • Seasonal flu vaccination or declination required.
• Annual TB questionnaire required regardless of TB status.

Competency Exams

• Medication/Pharmacology competency exam required.
• Color Blind Testing required (with alternative assessment if needed).
• Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam required for ICU/ER/telemetry areas.
• General competency exam required.

Additional Notes

• Candidate must review and sign facility Code of Conduct and Dress/Professional Appearance policies prior to start.
• References: 2 clinical references required.
• Skills checklist and work history verification required (can be pending at start with proof of processing).
