Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (Ortho Specialty)

Location: Greensboro, North Carolina
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Details

  • Shift: 3x12 hour shifts, Nights (7 PM - 7 AM), every other week (EOW)
  • Holiday Requirement: One holiday and one holiday evening shift during the holiday period
  • Call: No call required
  • Patient Ratio: 1:6 (possible stretch to 1:7)
  • Unit Specialty: Orthopedics and Trauma
  • Patient Focus: Pre-op and post-op orthopedic patients, elective and trauma patients
  • Experience Required: Minimum 2 years in specialty (Orthopedic and Trauma experience required)
  • Travel Experience: No first-time travelers accepted (prior travel experience required)
  • Electronic Medical Record: EPIC system required

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in North Carolina
  • Minimum 2 years of orthopedic nursing experience, including experience within the last year
  • Trauma nursing experience, including working with Level 1 and Level 2 Trauma patients
  • Completion of at least one travel nursing assignment
  • BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association or American Red Cross
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)

Compliance & Documentation Requirements

  • Government-issued photo ID (Driver’s License/State ID)
  • Social Security Card
  • Background Check (within 60 days, covering all locations lived/worked/schooled in past 7 years)
  • Education Verification (Associate’s degree in nursing or higher required)
  • Transcript/Diploma (highest education)
  • NURSYS Verification (RN license verification within 60 days of start)
  • Physical Exam (if applicable)
  • Drug Testing (Negative 10-panel drug screen within 40 days of start)
  • Immunizations and Health Documents including:
    • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap
    • Negative TB or Chest X-Ray (Qgold/TSPOT within 6 months)
    • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccination or positive titer
    • Hepatitis B titer or declination
    • Varicella vaccination or positive titer
    • Seasonal Flu Vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption
  • Fit Mask Test (annual, specific approved N95 respirators required)
  • Pass/Fail EKG Competency Exam (required for all RNs)
  • EPIC Pass/Fail Test (required for RNs and allied health starting 9/19/23)
  • References: 2 supervisory references required from clinical assignments within last 24 months
  • Employment Application/Resume with 7-year work history
  • Work History Verification for last 5 years

Additional Notes

  • Strict zero-tolerance policy for tardiness and unexcused absences
  • Candidates must be flexible with scheduling
  • Orientation Safety Manual Acknowledgement required
  • Candidates must review and sign facility-specific policies including floating policy and contractor equipment acknowledgement
  • Candidates must submit a professional badge photo meeting strict facility requirements (no selfies, solid color background, business casual or uniform attire)

This position is ideal for experienced orthopedic RNs with prior travel contract experience who are comfortable working night shifts in a trauma and orthopedic setting using EPIC.
