Job Opportunity: Temporary Registered Nurse (RN) – Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) (Nights)

Job Summary

Seeking an experienced Registered Nurse for the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) with a minimum of 24 months of recent PICU/Pediatric Intensive Care experience. The role requires flexibility to float to the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) and Emergency Department (ED) patient holds as needed.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide critical care to infants, children, and teens in a 12-bed, all-private-room PICU.
• May float to NICU to care for "feeders and growers" (babies on oxygen or antibiotics, but not the sickest patients).
• May float to ED patient holds when required.
• Utilize EPIC electronic medical records system.

Required Qualifications

• Experience: Minimum 24 months of current PICU/Pediatric Intensive Care experience.
• Licensure: Active Iowa RN license or compact/multistate license at time of submission.
• Certifications:

  • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) – AHA required
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) – AHA or ARC required
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) – AHA or ARC required
• Skills: Must have a skills checklist specific to PICU/Pediatric Intensive Care.
• Other: Valid driver’s license.

Work Environment & Additional Information

• 36-40 hours per week, with overtime billable after 40 hours.

Prior Travel Experience

• No explicit prior travel experience required.

Summary

This position is ideal for an experienced PICU RN who is comfortable working nights, floating between PICU, NICU, and ED patient holds, and is certified in PALS, ACLS, and BLS. The role offers a family-centered care environment in a modern pediatric critical care unit.
