Position Details

• Shift: 4x12 hour night shifts
• Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
• Unit: Intermediate Care Unit (IMCU) - critical care step-down unit
• Patient Population: Adult acute care patients requiring specialized care beyond general medical-surgical units, including continuous pulse-oximetry and telemetry monitoring, airway management, acute BIPAP support, arterial and central lines, and titrated medicated IV infusions.
• Patient Ratio: 1:5 to 1:7

Required Experience & Qualifications

• Valid RN license in New York
• Minimum 1 year of experience in Progressive Care Unit (PCU) or Intermediate Care Unit (IMCU), with PCU experience within the last year
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
• Experience working with adult patients
• BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
• Proficient in interpretation and management of dysrhythmias
• Experience using Rapid Response and Code teams
• Peripheral line care and management skills
• Non-invasive airway management experience
• EPIC charting experience

Work Environment

• 26-bed Intermediate Care Unit (IMCU) within a tertiary care hospital
• Multi-disciplinary team approach
• Staffed beds in hospital: 528
• Scrub color: Any combination of navy and white

Additional Requirements

• Must live within a 75-mile radius if local
• Background checks including 7-year criminal history, SSN trace, sex offender registry, education verification, and others as required
• Health requirements including physical exam, immunizations (Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Hepatitis B), TB testing, drug screening, flu vaccination or declination, eye exam, and fit mask testing
• Various competency exams and safety acknowledgments as required by the facility
• Primary source verification of state license within 30 days of start
• NURSYS verification for RN license within 30 days of start

This position is ideal for a Registered Nurse with at least 1 year of MedSurg experience, comfortable working night shifts in a critical care step-down environment, and possessing strong cardiac monitoring and respiratory management skills. Prior travel experience is not required. A New York RN license must be active and in hand before starting.
