Occupational Therapist Travel Assignment

Location: Santa Cruz, California
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Summary

Seeking an experienced Occupational Therapist for a travel assignment in a hospital setting. The role involves working primarily in inpatient rehab and acute care units, with some floating between hospital units and acute rehab.


Required Qualifications

  • Minimum 3 years of Occupational Therapy experience
  • At least 2 years of experience in Acute Care and/or Inpatient Rehab
  • Active California OT license
  • BLS Certification
  • COVID-19 vaccination required

Preferred Experience

  • 3-5 years of experience preferred
  • Experience with orthopedic, neurological, and cardiac rehab patients
  • ICU experience preferred
  • Experience with cognition and bedside swallow assessments (including modified barium swallow studies)
  • Spanish-speaking candidates preferred
  • Experience in outpatient or home health settings preferred
  • Experience with physical disabilities preferred
  • Pediatric experience not required for travelers

Work Details

  • Unit: Rehab Therapies, Cardiac Rehab
  • Patient Types: Spinal cord injuries, TBI, stroke, cardiac rehab, ortho, etc.
  • Shifts: 8-hour shifts, varied hours starting as early as 6:30 AM and ending as late as 6:30 PM, with a 30-minute lunch break
  • Weekend Requirement: Every other Saturday or Sunday (2 weekend days in a 4-week schedule), with a weekday off during weeks worked on weekends; preference for candidates who can work all weekends
  • Orientation: 1 day hospital orientation plus 2-3 days unit-specific orientation
  • EMR System: Cerner
  • Dress Code: Black or dark pants with burgundy dress shirts or polos
  • Additional Support: Rehab aide available on inpatient units; manager available Monday-Friday with alternating weekends

Additional Notes

  • Open to first-time travel therapists
  • Floating between hospital units and acute rehab required
  • Hospital has 24/7 respiratory therapy and pharmacy support
  • Hospitalist or intensivist available in-house
  • No IV team support

No explicit requirement for prior travel experience. First-time travelers are welcome.
