Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (RN) - Med Surg/Tele RN - 2EW Post Surgical

Location: Marshfield, Wisconsin
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Unit Overview

• Department: Med Surg RN 2E
• Unit Size: 15 beds
• Nurse-to-Patient Ratios:

  • Day (0700-1900): 1:4-5
  • Night (1900-0730): 1:5-6
• Common Patient Diagnoses:

  • Post-Surgical: Orthopedics, Urology, Gynecology/Oncology, Neurosurgery, Vascular Surgery, ENT, Plastics, GI
  • Acute Medical patients with short anticipated length of stay

Required Qualifications

• Current RN license in the state of Wisconsin
• BLS (AHA) certification required
• 1-2 years of acute care nursing experience (higher value taken as requirement)
• Ability to titrate drips (Heparin, occasionally nitro, Cardizem, insulin)

Work Environment & Support

• Telemetry system: GE, monitored remotely by Tele/Monitor Techs; RNs do not read their own strips
• Charge Nurse on all shifts takes patient assignments
• House Supervisor present on all shifts
• Nursing Assistants available during day shifts (0630-1900) with ratios 1:8-12; RNs have lower ratios on nights without assistants
• Respiratory Therapy support available (CPAP, BiPAP, High Flow Oxygen Therapy; no ventilators)

Scheduling & Requirements

• Shifts:

  • RN: 0700-1930, 1100-2330, 2300-0700
  • CNA: 0630-1900, 1830-0700
• Scheduling: Block scheduling, no self-scheduling
• Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
• Holiday Requirement: Every other holiday
• No call or standby required
• Floating: Required to float to other adult medical/surgical nursing units

Orientation & Dress Code

• Orientation: 1 day computer training plus 1-2 days precepted floor orientation based on skills
• Dress Code: Any color scrubs, clean and professional

Additional Notes

• Clinicians who have previously worked at this facility must have a minimum 6-month gap since last employment
• All clinicians must clock in and out at the facility
