Job Opportunity: Operating Room Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)

Location: San Francisco, California
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Summary

Seeking an experienced Operating Room Registered Nurse with extensive experience as an OR RN Circulator across multiple surgical specialties including Gynecology, General Surgery, Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery (OHNS), Urology, Plastic/Breast, Pain Management, and Robotic Surgery. Ability to float to other facilities within the system is required.


Required Qualifications

  • Valid RN license in California
  • Minimum 2 years of Operating Room (OR) experience, including OR experience within the last year
  • Experience in Urology, Plastic Surgery, and Pain Management
  • American Heart Association ACLS certification
  • American Heart Association BLS certification
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience circulating in Ophthalmology
  • Scrub experience in at least two surgical specialties
  • CNOR certification

Work Schedule

  • 10-hour day shifts

Compliance and Documentation Requirements

  • Current and valid government-issued photo ID matching professional license
  • Background checks including 7-year criminal history, nationwide and international searches, and various federal databases
  • Education verification or copy of diploma/transcript
  • Primary source license verification (NURSYS for RN)
  • Physical exam within 1 year of start, including physician statement of fitness to work
  • Fit mask test within 1 year (specific approved masks required)
  • Immunizations and titers: Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within 10 years), Negative TB tests (2 required), Rubeola, Mumps, Rubella, Hepatitis B, Varicella
  • Drug testing (standard 9 panel excluding THC) within 30 days of start, renewed every 2 years
  • Seasonal flu vaccination or facility-specific declination (required annually)
  • COVID-19 vaccination or approved exemption as per facility policy
  • Pass/fail medication and telemetry competency exams with minimum 80% score
  • Unit-specific competency exams and core clinical training modules completed annually
  • Management of Assaultive Behavior (MAB), NIH Stroke Certification, and other certifications may be required depending on unit assignment
  • Completion of facility-specific learning modules and cybersecurity awareness training
  • References: Two supervisory references required, preferably from most recent employment
  • Employment application with 7 years of work history and explanation of any gaps over 30 days
  • Skills checklist updated annually

Additional Notes

  • Ability to float to other facilities within the system may be required
  • Must be prepared to complete pass/fail exams on orientation day
  • Facility requires compliance with various health and safety protocols including COVID-19 preparedness and vaccination policies
  • Annual TB questionnaire and other health screenings required
  • Facility-specific policies on parking, uniform, and confidentiality agreements must be acknowledged
