Job Opportunity: Temporary Registered Nurse (RN) - Med Surg (Nights)
Location: Des Moines, Iowa
Employment Type: Temporary
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Details
- Unit: Medical Surgical / Telemetry
- Bed Size: 22 beds
- Nurse-to-Patient Ratio: 5:1
- Patient Types: General medical-surgical
- Drips: Heparin
- Scrubs Color: Navy Blue
- Float Requirement: Traveler will be required to float across multiple campuses within the system
- Work Hours: 36-40 hours/week, with overtime billable after 40 hours
- EMR System: EPIC
Required Qualifications
- Experience: Minimum 24 months (2 years) of Medical Surgical / Telemetry experience (highest required years of experience)
- Prior Travel Experience: Required within the past 18 months
- Licensure: Active Iowa RN license or compact/multistate license at time of submission
- Certifications:
- Current American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross (ARC) BLS certification
- De-escalation certificate (MAB, MOAB, CPI, SAMA) highly preferred; can be obtained during onboarding
- Additional Requirements:
- Skills checklist specific to medical surgical discipline
- Professional reference or performance evaluation within the last 24 months preferred
- Valid driver’s license
Additional Information
- Orientation Date: March 30 (April start considered too late)
- Call back and on-call pay multipliers apply (details not included here)
- Must be willing to work night shifts
