Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (ER) - Travel/Contract

Location: Germantown, Tennessee
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Summary

Seeking a Registered Nurse for the Emergency Room (ER) at a Level I Trauma Center. This is a travel/contract position with strict local radius restrictions.

Required Experience

• Minimum 3 years recent experience in nursing (first-time travelers accepted only if 3+ years recent experience)
• Level I Trauma experience required
• Large hospital experience preferred

Schedule & Work Conditions

• On-call as needed
• Weekend shifts as needed (weekend block schedule may be considered)
• No local candidates within 100 miles accepted (strict radius rule)

Licensure & Certifications

• Must have a valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Tennessee or multistate license compliant with Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC) guidelines
• Pending licenses are not accepted
• Driver’s license must be included with submission

Required Certifications

• BLS (Basic Life Support) – AHA or ARC only
• ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) – AHA or ARC only (required for ER)
• NIH Stroke Scale Certification (required for all RNs except at Children’s Hospital)
• Other certifications may be required depending on unit or specialty (e.g., PALS, TNCC preferred but not required for ER)

Prior Travel Experience

• Prior travel experience is not explicitly required, but first-time travelers must have 3+ years recent experience.

Compliance & Documentation Requirements

• Background checks including statewide, county, federal, education verification, sex offender search, and Tennessee Adult Abuse Registry (for TN facilities)
• Physical exam within 1 year of start, attesting ability to meet job demands
• Negative 10-panel drug test within 30 days of start (no pending compliance allowed)
• Immunizations required: Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Hepatitis B (proof of vaccination or positive titer; declinations generally not accepted)
• TB test (2-step PPD, Q-Gold, or T-spot) within 1 year, updated annually
• Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required during flu season
• Photo for badge with strict guidelines (passport-style, no hats, no glasses glare, no piercings visible)
• Two recent professional references required
• Skills checklist and internal evaluations as applicable

Additional Notes

• Locals within 100 miles are not accepted
• No pending licenses allowed; must be fully compliant with NLC
• Must submit Return to Office (RTO) restrictions at time of submission
• Dress code: Navy blue scrubs for RNs; no prints or embroidered scrubs allowed
• Facility is a short-term acute care hospital and Level I Trauma Center

Requirements/Qualifications

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Tennessee
• Minimum 2 years of Emergency Department (ED) experience, with ED experience within the last year
• Experience working with Level I Trauma patients
• Trauma experience
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
• ACLS certification issued by American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross (ARC)
• BLS certification issued by AHA or ARC
• PALS certification issued by AHA or ARC
• NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification

This position is ideal for experienced ER Registered Nurses with trauma experience looking for a travel contract in Tennessee.
