Job Description

A hospital in California is seeking an experienced Respiratory Therapist for a travel assignment. The position covers ICU and all other med-surg/telemetry areas in a 267-bed facility.

Required Qualifications

• Experience: 2-5 years in critical care respiratory therapy (higher end of experience required)
• Prior Travel Experience: Required (must have completed at least one prior travel contract)
• Certifications:

  • Active BLS (Basic Life Support)
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support)
  • NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program)
  • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
  • RRT (Registered Respiratory Therapist) license (California state requires RRT; CRT not accepted)
• Experience with Respiratory Therapy Driven Protocols is required

Work Environment & Details

• Unit: Respiratory Therapy
• Shifts: 12-hour night shifts, every other weekend required, some flexibility in weekday scheduling
• Holidays: Expect to work most holidays
• Floating: To all areas except NICU
• Orientation: 2 days floor-specific orientation
• Common Patient Diagnoses: COPD, Asthma, Pneumonia, CHF
• Common Duties: Breathing treatments, ABGs, EKGs, NIV, HFNC therapy, IPV, PEP/PAP therapy
• Ventilators Used: Hamilton, G5, C1, MR1, Galileo's
• EMR System: Cerner
• Telemetry System: GE
• Hospitalist coverage: 24/7 hospitalist on site
• Charge Nurse: Charge RT available 24/7
• Pharmacy: Available 24/7
• COVID Vaccine: Required

• Weekend and holiday coverage required as noted
