Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (Med Surg/Tele RN - 7N Ortho/Uro/Neuro)

Location: Marshfield, Wisconsin
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Unit Overview

• Unit Type: Medical-Surgical Telemetry
• Beds: 29
• Nurse-to-Patient Ratios:

  • Days: 1:4-5
  • Nights: 1:5-6
• Common Patient Diagnoses:

  • Orthopedic Trauma (fractures, joint replacements)
  • Vascular (fem-pop bypass, carotid endarterectomy, heparin drips, wound care)
  • Urology (TURP, TURBT, continuous bladder irrigation)
  • Neuro-spine (laminectomy, fusion, back pain)
  • OBGYN Oncology (TAH/OBS)
  • Acute Medical admissions

Required Qualifications

• License: Registered Nurse (RN)
• Specialty Experience: Minimum 2 years acute care nursing experience (higher value from 1-2 years range)
• Certifications: BLS (AHA) required
• Skills:

  • Ability to titrate drips per prescribed nomogram (heparin, occasionally nitro, bivalirudin, cardizem, insulin)
  • Experience with telemetry unit preferred (telemetry techs monitor strips; RNs not required to read strips)

Work Environment & Scheduling

• Shifts:

  • RN: 0700-1930, 1100-2330, 2300-0700
  • CNA support varies by shift
• Scheduling: Block scheduling with no self-scheduling; dependent on staffing
• Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
• Holiday Requirement: Every other holiday
• Call/Standby: None
• Floating: Required to float to other adult medical/surgical nursing units
• Orientation:

  • 1 day computer training
  • 1-2 days precepted floor orientation
• Dress Code: Any color scrubs, clean and professional

Additional Information

• Respiratory Therapy support available (CPAP, BIPAP, High Flow Oxygen Therapy; no ventilators)
• Charge Nurse on all shifts takes assignment; house supervisor present on all shifts
• Nursing Assistants available with varying ratios depending on shift
• Clinicians who have previously worked at this facility must have a minimum 6-month gap before reapplying
• Timekeeping: All clinicians must clock in and out at the facility
