Job Opportunity: RN Medical/Surgical (Travel)

Location: Nashville, Tennessee
Contract Length: 12 weeks

Job Description

• Unit Capacity: 23 beds
• Patient Population: Cardiac telemetry and overflow medical/surgical patients requiring observation or inpatient acute care admission
• Patient Age Range: Young Adult through Late Adult (18 - 60+)
• Nurse to Patient Ratio: 1:5
• Core Staffing: Registered Nurses (RNs), Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs), Patient Care Technicians (PCTs), Nurse Interns (NIs)
• RN Role: Full responsibility for patients on each team
• Required Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)
• Must successfully complete a proctored rhythm test

Required Qualifications

• Current RN license in Tennessee with primary source verification within 30 days prior to assignment start
• Nursys verification within 30 days prior to start
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (must be AHA)
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification
• Completion of Ascension Medical Surgical Exam prior to start and updated every 3 years (minimum 80% score, max 2 attempts)
• Completion of Ascension Color Vision test prior to start and updated every 3 years
• Completion of Ascension Core Competencies (HIPAA, Joint Commission, NPSG, OSHA topics) within a year of start, updated every 3 years (minimum 80% score, max 2 attempts)
• NIH Certification updated yearly or every 2 years depending on group
• Completion of Ascension EKG Exam prior to start and updated every 3 years (minimum 80% score, max 2 attempts)
• Completion of Ascension Onboarding Requirements Education Attestation and Nursing Contract Worker Onboarding prior to start
• Completion of Ascension Nova StatStrip prior to clearance
• Completion of Ascension Cerner Test-Out prior to start
• Documentation of required immunizations and health screenings including:

  • MMR (two vaccines or positive IGG titer, no declinations accepted)
  • Fit Test (annual, preferred prior to start)
  • Hepatitis B vaccination series or signed declination
  • Influenza vaccine (seasonal, exemptions accepted with mask requirement)
  • Positive IGRA or PPD results, negative chest X-ray within 1 year, and annual TB questionnaire
  • 2 Step PPD or IGRA within 90 days of start
  • Varicella immunity or vaccination (no declinations accepted)
  • Tdap vaccination valid within 10 years (no declinations accepted)
• Health Statement or physical exam prior to first assignment, updated annually
• Valid Driver’s License or State ID (must match home state for compact license holders)
• Ascension Skills Checklist completed within one year of start and updated annually
• 12 Panel Drug Screen within 30 days prior to start and annually thereafter
• Verification of education relevant to clinical work within 90 days of start
• Professional references (at least two) completed prior to first assignment
• Criminal background check including Social Security Trace, OIG Search, National Sex Offender, and others within 30 days of first assignment, updated annually
• Employment verification for the past seven years prior to start and annually thereafter
• Confirmation of assignment documentation upon initial assignment and each extension
