Job Opportunity: Operating Room Registered Nurse
Location: Snellville, Georgia
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 12 weeks
Job Summary
- Weekend 24-hour shifts only (Saturday and Sunday)
- Patient population ranges from Pediatrics to Geriatrics
- Scrub and aseptic technique required
- Experience required with surgery types including Urology, Orthopedics, Vascular, General, Endoscopy/Laparoscopic, Robotics (all except Open Heart)
- Use of typical OR equipment and XI DaVinci robots
- Average caseload: 20-25 cases per day across 10 rooms
- Unit systems: Pyxis, Epic
- Floating within facility/scope of practice as needed
- Call requirements: One weekday shift on call weekly (3-11pm or 11pm-7am) and one 24-hour weekend on call every fifth weekend
- Holiday work expected depending on number of major holidays during assignment (Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving/Black Friday, Christmas Eve/Day, New Year’s Eve/Day)
- Return to Orientation (RTO) maximum 7 days
- Locals accepted at same rate
Requirements/Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Georgia
- Minimum 2 years of Operating Room (OR) nursing experience, including OR experience within the last year
- Experience with Endoscopy, Endo/Laparoscopic, Robotics, Orthopedics, Urology, and Vascular Surgery
- Experience working with Pediatric and Geriatric patient populations
- Proficiency in scrub and aseptic techniques
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
Required Certifications
- Additional certifications may be required depending on unit (e.g., ACLS, PALS, NRP) – verify based on specialty and unit
Compliance and Documentation Requirements
- Background check completed within 30 days prior to start
- Education verification of related degree required (can be pending with proof of processing)
- Physical exam within 12 months prior to start
- Negative TB test or chest x-ray within 12 months (with additional requirements if history of positive TB)
- Drug screening (10-panel) within 60 days prior to start
- Immunizations/vaccinations:
- Flu vaccine or declination required during flu season
- MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) – 2 vaccines or positive titer
- Varicella – 2 vaccines or positive titer
- Hepatitis B surface antibody titer or signed declination
- Tdap highly recommended
- Annual TB questionnaire required regardless of TB status
- Skills checklist updated within 12 months
- Medication/pharmacology competency exam required by agency
- Color blind testing required
- Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam required if applicable to unit
Work Environment and Additional Information
- Floating within the facility as needed
- Call shifts required as described
- Must comply fully with orientation and credentialing timelines to avoid assignment delays
- Candidate must review and sign facility-specific policies such as Code of Conduct and Dress/Professional Appearance
Summary
This is a weekend-only travel contract for an Operating Room Registered Nurse with a minimum of 2 years OR experience. The role requires proficiency in multiple surgical specialties (excluding open heart), strong scrub and aseptic technique skills, and the ability to work with advanced surgical technology including robotic systems. Candidates must hold a valid Georgia RN license and current BLS certification. Prior travel experience is not required. Compliance with extensive credentialing, immunization, and competency requirements is mandatory.
