Travel/Contract Registered Nurse (CVICU)

Job Description

• Patient Population: Adults to Geriatrics
• Unit: Cardiovascular ICU (CV3 ICU), 10 beds, average daily census of 7
• Nurse-to-Patient Ratio: 1:1 to 1:2
• Typical patient conditions include LVADs, balloon pumps, Swan catheters, temporary pacemakers, femoral and venous sheaths, arterial lines, TR bands, and patients on CRRT
• Nurses typically carry 2 patients
• Multidisciplinary rounds with intensivist present Monday-Friday
• Responsibilities include titrating cardiac drips, vasoactive medications, and sedation for intubated patients
• Close monitoring required for post-AAA repair patients who must remain flat for specific hours
• Effective communication with physicians and care team is critical
• Unit Systems: Epic, Pyxis, SBAR
• Scrub Color: Navy Blue
• Floating: Yes, within facility and scope of practice as needed
• Call Requirements: None
• Weekend Schedule: Every other weekend
• Holiday Work: Required to work major holidays if they fall during assignment (Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving/Black Friday, Christmas Eve/Day, New Year’s Eve/Day)
• Return to Office (RTO): Maximum 7 days; blackout dates during Spring Break (April 4th-12th)

Required Qualifications

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Georgia
• Minimum 2 years of Cardiovascular ICU (CVICU) experience, with CVICU experience within the last year
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
• Current BLS certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
• Current ACLS certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
• Experience working with adult and geriatric patient populations

• Orientation hours depend on contract length (e.g., 12 weeks = 12 hours orientation)
• Full compliance with all documentation and credentialing required to start on time; delays may result in assignment pushback
• Locals accepted at same rate
• Floating within facility as needed

Prior Travel Experience

• Not explicitly required; 1st time travelers accepted

This position is ideal for experienced CVICU RNs comfortable with complex cardiovascular patients and advanced monitoring and interventions in a fast-paced ICU environment.
