Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse - MS/Tele

Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Details

• Shift: 3x12 hour shifts, Nights (7 PM - 7 AM), Friday through Sunday, including holiday rotation
• Float Requirement: Must float to 2A overflow unit for Medical-Surgical Telemetry assignments; may have up to 6 patients if needed. All travelers are subject to float between facilities.
• Patient Population: Acutely ill medical-surgical and orthopedic patients with diagnoses including:

  • Acute/chronic respiratory illness
  • Post-op general surgery and gynecological surgery
  • Post-op total knee and hip replacements
  • Orthopedics, acute and chronic pain
  • Active GI bleeding, CHF/pulmonary edema
  • Diabetes (hyper and hypoglycemic conditions)
  • Renal failure, drug overdose
  • Patients with Clinical Institute Withdrawal Assessment (CIWA) score below 7
  • Stable COVID patients
• Exclusions: Patients who are suicidal, have arrhythmia, radioactive therapy, uncontrolled or new onset seizures are excluded.

Required Experience and Skills

• Minimum 2 years of nursing experience required
• Experience in Medical-Surgical Telemetry (MS Tele) and Telemetry required
• First-time travelers are accepted
• Ability to manage up to 6 patients on overflow unit

Required Certifications and Licenses

• License: Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license for North Carolina
• Certifications:

  • BLS (Basic Life Support) - required
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - preferred
  • NIH Stroke Certification - preferred
• Pass/Fail EKG (Dysrhythmia) exam required for all RNs (except Behavioral Health and Case Managers)
• Other certifications may be preferred depending on unit (e.g., TNCC, CPI)

Compliance and Documentation Requirements

• Government-issued photo ID (Driver’s License or State ID)
• Social Security Card
• Background check within 60 days covering all locations lived/worked/schooled in past 7 years
• Education verification (Associate’s degree in nursing or higher required)
• Transcript/Diploma as proof of highest education
• Negative 10-panel drug screen within 40 days of start
• Immunizations and health documents including:

  • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap vaccine proof
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 6 months
  • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccination or positive titer
  • Hepatitis B titer or declination
  • Varicella vaccination or positive titer
  • Seasonal flu vaccination or approved exemption
• Fit mask test completed within current calendar year (N95 approved types)
• Physical exam (if applicable)
• References: 2 supervisory references required, one within 12 months and one within 24 months of start
• Employment application/resume with 7-year work history
• Work history verification for last 5 years

Additional Information

• Candidates must be flexible with scheduling and aware of zero-tolerance policy for tardiness and unexcused absences
• Floating between units and facilities is mandatory
• Candidates must complete all compliance requirements by the deadline prior to start date
• Pass/Fail EKG exam is mandatory regardless of specialty
• Orientation and onboarding tasks must be completed prior to arrival
• Badge photo must meet strict facility requirements (no selfies, solid color background, business casual or uniform attire)

Prior Travel Experience

• Not required; first-time travelers are welcome

Required Experience and Qualifications

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in North Carolina
• Minimum 2 years of Medical-Surgical / Telemetry nursing experience, including experience within the last year
• BLS certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
• NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
