Job Opportunity: MS/Tele Registered Nurse (RN)

Job Description

• Provide nursing care on a Medical-Surgical/Telemetry unit.
• Mandatory competency in phlebotomy and IV placement required.
• Day/Evening nurse-to-patient ratio: 5:1 (stretch 6-7)
• Night nurse-to-patient ratio: 6-7:1 (stretch 8-10 if staff calls in)
• Patient population primarily cardiac unit patients.
• Patient care technicians (PCTs) assist with vital signs, blood glucose checks, EKGs, and activities of daily living.
• Nurses may be required to float within scope to meet unit needs.
• Weekend work required every other weekend (EOW).
• Block scheduling may be accommodated but is not guaranteed.
• No local hires accepted within 75 miles radius.
• Pending licenses are not accepted.
• No on-call requirement.
• Return to office (RTO) restrictions: no more than 1 week RTO during contract.

Required Qualifications

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in New York State.
• Minimum 1 year of recent experience in Medical-Surgical/Telemetry nursing.
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association.
• NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification.
• Experience in management of dysrhythmias.
• Proficient in use of Rapid Response Teams.
• Skilled in peripheral line care and management.
• Competent in non-invasive airway management.

Health and Compliance Requirements

Candidates must complete the following within 5 days of contract signing and maintain as required:

• Physical exam (within 1 year)
• Fit mask testing (annual)
• Negative TB test or chest X-ray (within 1 year)
• Immunizations or titers for Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Hepatitis B, Varicella
• Drug screening (within 30 days of start)
• Seasonal flu vaccination or signed declination (during flu season)
• Eye exam (Snellen, within 1 year)
• COVID vaccination copy preferred but not required

Background and Documentation Requirements

• Government-issued photo ID required.
• 7-year criminal background check (felony checks) within 3 months of start.
• EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks within 3 months of start and monthly thereafter.
• Education verification from primary source required.
• Foreign equivalency evaluation if applicable.
• Employment verification of at least 2 past employments required.
• References (2 within 3 years) required for certain candidates.
• Facility-specific documents including photo for badge and compliance attestations required.

Additional Information

• Scrub color: any combination of navy and white.
• Charting system: Epic.
• No prior travel experience required.
