Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse - Emergency Room

Location: Augusta, Georgia
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 14 weeks


Job Summary

Seeking an experienced Registered Nurse for a busy, high-acuity Emergency Department serving adolescents through geriatrics. The unit is stroke and STEMI certified, with a 1:4 nurse-to-patient ratio in a 59-bed ER averaging 165-175 patients daily.


Required Experience

  • Minimum 2 years of nursing experience in the specialty
  • 1st time travelers not accepted (prior travel experience required)

Certifications Required

  • Basic Life Support (BLS)
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)
  • NIH Stroke Certification (as applicable)

Work Environment & Expectations

  • General Emergency Department (Non-Trauma)
  • Use of Epic electronic health record system and Pyxis medication system
  • Scrub color: Navy Blue
  • Return to Orientation (RTO) within 7 days
  • Weekend shifts every other weekend
  • Floating is rare and only within facility/scope of practice
  • Holiday work required depending on number of holidays during assignment (Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving/Black Friday, Christmas Eve/Day, New Year's Eve/Day)
  • Full compliance with orientation and credentialing required to start on time

  • Adolescents to Geriatrics

Orientation & Compliance

  • Number of non-billable orientation hours depends on contract length
  • Clinical screening required to determine clinical fit before final approval

Required Documentation & Compliance

  • Valid Registered Nurse license for Georgia
  • Background check completed within 30 days prior to start
  • Education verification of nursing degree (can be pending with proof of processing)
  • Physical exam within 12 months prior to start
  • Negative TB test or chest x-ray within 12 months
  • Required immunizations or proof of immunity: MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella), Varicella, Hepatitis B, Tdap (highly recommended)
  • Negative 10-panel drug screen within 60 days prior to start
  • Annual flu vaccination or signed declination during flu season
  • Color blindness test and competency exams (medication, dysrhythmia/EKG) required
  • Skills checklist and work history verification within 12 months

Additional Notes

  • Candidates must review and sign facility-specific policies including code of conduct and dress/professional appearance
  • References: 2 clinical references required
  • Return to orientation blackout dates during Spring Break (April 4th-12th)

Requirements/Qualifications

  • Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Georgia
  • Minimum 2 years of Emergency Department (ED) nursing experience
  • Emergency Department nursing experience within the last year
  • One completed travel nursing assignment
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
  • NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification or experience
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
  • Experience with Epic electronic health record system

This position is ideal for experienced ER nurses with prior travel contract experience looking to work in a high-volume, high-acuity emergency department setting.
