Registered Nurse (PCU) - Washington, Federal Way

Job Details

Specialty: Progressive Care Unit (PCU)
Location: Federal Way, Washington
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: 12-hour shifts, 6:00 PM – 6:30 AM
Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
Holiday Requirement: Yes, 2 of the winter holidays
Floating: Required; primary assignment to one facility with possible float to other regional hospitals
Charge Nurse/House Supervisor: Yes, 24/7 charge nurse coverage; House Supervisor coverage weekdays and weekends
Nurse Aids: Yes, with ratios approximately 1:8-10
Orientation: Unit/department specific orientation provided
Parking: On-site free parking available

Unit Information

Unit Type: Progressive Care Unit (PCU)
Number of Beds: 24
Nurse-to-Patient Ratios: 1:3-4
Common Patient Diagnoses: Pneumonia, ARDS, COVID-19 infection, Hypertensive urgency, Angina, post-cardiac catheterization, Alcohol withdrawal
Respiratory Equipment: CPAP, BiPAP, High flow oxygen
Telemetry: Remote monitor techs with RN approval; RNs read strips
Drip Titration: RNs are required to titrate drips including Amiodarone, Diltiazem, Dopamine, Nitroglycerin, Lasix, Dobutamine

Required Certifications

ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support)
BLS (Basic Life Support)
NIHSS (National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale)

Required Experience & Skills

Progressive Care Unit (PCU) experience required
Ability to titrate drips as listed
Flexibility with schedule and floating within the region

Additional Information

Standby call may be required if extra staff is available
No specific scrub color or dress code mandated
Must be flexible to float between multiple hospitals within the region
