Registered Nurse Travel/Contract Job – Madison, Wisconsin
Job Details

Work Schedule
- 12-hour shifts (Day/Night)
- Shift times: 7:00 AM – 7:30 PM or 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM
- Sunday through Saturday with weekend rotation
- Some holidays based on operational need
Unit & Patient Population
- Care for patients across multiple specialties: Gynecology, Urology, Plastic Surgery, and ENT
- Involvement in specialized procedures such as free flap monitoring for breast reconstruction and urinary diversion surgeries
- Experience with airway management including new tracheostomies
- Opportunity to gain skills relevant to critical care settings
Requirements / Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Wisconsin
- Minimum 2 years of acute care experience, with at least 1 year within the last year
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
- Experience with Epic electronic health record system
Licensure & Certifications
- Must have a Wisconsin nursing license or a compact nursing license from permanent address state
- BLS certification required (American Heart Association only)
- Telemetry competency testing required before starting
- Additional certifications may be required depending on unit (e.g., ACLS, PALS, NRP) – check unit specifics
Additional Requirements
- Must live within 50 miles of the primary work site
- Floating between units and locations may be required based on staffing needs
- Background checks and verifications per state and facility standards
- Completion of required facility-specific testing and documentation (e.g., Telemetry exams, medication competency exams)
- Compliance with immunization and health screening requirements including TB, MMR, Varicella, Hepatitis B, Flu vaccine or approved exemptions
Compliance & Documentation
- Required to complete state-mandated forms and caregiver screening
- Must provide clinical references (2 within last 3 years)
- Annual skills checklist and competency exams required
- Facility-specific orientation and safety acknowledgments
Summary
This travel RN role offers a dynamic clinical environment with exposure to multiple surgical specialties and complex patient care, including airway management and telemetry monitoring. The position requires solid acute care experience, specific clinical skills, and compliance with rigorous licensure, certification, and testing standards. Candidates must be flexible with floating assignments and meet all health and background screening requirements.
