Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse - PCU
Location: Greensboro, North Carolina
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Details
- Schedule: 3x12 hour shifts, nights (7:00 PM - 7:30 AM)
- Every other weekend required; holidays as needed
- Floating to other units as needed
- Focus on cardiac patients including Congestive Heart Failure, rule-out myocardial infarction, Acute Coronary Syndrome, Arrhythmias
- Secondary focus on respiratory issues such as COPD and pneumonia
- Patient diagnoses commonly include Heart Failure, Respiratory Failure, NSTEMI, COPD, Pneumonia
Required Experience
- Minimum 2 years of nursing experience required
- First-time travel nurses are welcome (no prior travel experience required)
Required Certifications
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- Pass/Fail Dysrhythmia/EKG exam required (must score 82% or higher; 2 attempts allowed)
- Orientation Safety Manual Acknowledgement
- State RN license verification (North Carolina) with primary source verification within 30 days of start
- NURSYS verification within 60 days of start
- Additional certifications may be required depending on unit (e.g., NIH Stroke Certification for Cardiac Progressive Care)
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in North Carolina
- Minimum 2 years of experience in Cardiac Progressive Care Unit (PCU), with at least 1 year of recent PCU experience
- Current ACLS certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- Current BLS certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
Compliance and Documentation Requirements
- Government-issued photo ID (Driver’s License or State ID)
- Social Security Card
- Background check within 60 days covering all locations lived/worked/schooled in past 7 years
- Education verification (Associate’s degree in nursing or higher required)
- Transcript/Diploma as proof of highest education
- Drug screening (10-panel, negative result required within 40 days of start)
- Immunizations and health documents including:
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 6 months
- Hepatitis B titer or declination
- MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccination or positive titer
- Varicella vaccination or positive titer
- Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption
- Fit mask test (N95) completed within current calendar year and updated annually
- Fingerprinting required for certain positions (Home Health and Long-Term Care only)
Additional Requirements
- Completion of a health history form prior to clearance
- Completion of EPIC or Dysrhythmia/ EKG testing with pass/fail results
- Two supervisory references required for clinical positions (one within 12 months, one within 24 months)
- Employment application/resume with 7-year work history
- Verification of all employment within the last 5 years through a third-party vendor
- Annual skills checklist with a one-week grace period for renewal
Important Notes
- Candidates must be aware of the pass/fail EKG exam requirement
- Candidates must be flexible with scheduling and understand the zero-tolerance policy for tardiness and unexcused absences
- Floating to other units may be required
- Candidates must submit a professional badge photo meeting strict guidelines (no selfies, solid color background, business casual or uniform attire) prior to clearance
- Candidates will receive onboarding instructions including Workday login and multi-factor authentication setup before start date
This position offers an opportunity to work in a cardiac progressive care unit with a focus on complex cardiac and respiratory patients in a travel nurse capacity. The role requires strong clinical skills, flexibility, and adherence to strict compliance and documentation standards.
