Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse - PCU

Location: Greensboro, North Carolina
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Details

  • Shift: 3x12 hour shifts, Nights (7:00 PM - 7:30 AM)
  • Schedule: Every other weekend, holidays as needed
  • Floating: Required as needed
  • Patient Focus:
    • Primary: Cardiac patients (Congestive Heart Failure, rule-out myocardial infarction, Acute Coronary Syndrome, Arrhythmias)
    • Secondary: Respiratory issues (COPD, pneumonia)
  • Common Diagnoses: Heart Failure, Respiratory Failure, NSTEMI, COPD, Pneumonia

Required Experience

  • Minimum 2 years of nursing experience required
  • First-time travel nurses are welcome (no prior travel experience required)

Required Certifications & Licenses

  • Current Registered Nurse (RN) license for North Carolina
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
  • BLS (Basic Life Support)
  • Cardiac Telemetry experience required
  • Pass/Fail EKG (Dysrhythmia) exam required prior to start
  • Other certifications that may be required or preferred depending on unit:
    • NIH Stroke Certification (for Cardiac Progressive Care, MS/Tele units)
    • PALS, NRP, TNCC, CPI may be preferred or required depending on specialty/unit

Compliance & Documentation Requirements

  • Government-issued photo ID (Driver’s License or State ID)
  • Social Security Card
  • Background check within 60 days covering all locations lived/worked/schooled in past 7 years
  • Education verification (Associate’s degree in nursing or higher required)
  • Transcript/Diploma as proof of highest education
  • Negative 10-panel drug screen within 40 days of start
  • Immunizations and health documents including:
    • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap
    • Negative TB test or chest X-ray
    • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccination or positive titer
    • Varicella vaccination or positive titer
    • Hepatitis B titer or declination
    • Seasonal flu vaccination or approved exemption
  • Fit mask test (N95) completed within current calendar year and updated annually
  • Fingerprinting required for certain positions (Home Health and Long-Term Care only)

Additional Requirements

  • Candidate must be flexible with scheduling and aware of zero-tolerance policy for tardiness and unexcused absences
  • Must complete all compliance documentation by the deadline (12 Noon EST the Wednesday prior to start date)
  • Must review and sign facility-specific policies including floating policy and contractor equipment acknowledgement
  • Badge photo must meet strict facility requirements (no selfies, solid color background, business casual or uniform attire)
  • Employment application/resume with 7-year work history required
  • Two supervisory references required from clinical positions (one within 12 months, one within 24 months)
  • Annual skills checklist and competency exams required with timely renewal

Requirements/Qualifications

  • Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in North Carolina
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in Cardiac Progressive Care Unit (PCU), with at least 1 year of recent Cardiac PCU experience
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
  • Medication Administration Badge (MAB)
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)

Summary

This is a travel Registered Nurse position in a Progressive Care Unit (PCU) with a focus on cardiac and respiratory patients. The role requires a minimum of 2 years nursing experience, cardiac telemetry skills, and current ACLS and BLS certifications. The assignment is 13 weeks long with night shifts and floating responsibilities. Compliance with strict documentation, immunization, and testing requirements is mandatory.
