Respiratory Therapist (Temp)

Location: Sault St. Marie, Michigan
Employment Type: Temporary
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Description

• Independently or in consultation with a physician, administer medications and perform therapeutic modalities and diagnostic testing for the cardio-pulmonary system.
• Respond to arrest and emergency situations, providing CPR and life support.
• Perform respiratory care evaluations and treatments according to protocols.
• Deliver medications via aerosol and metered dose inhalers.
• Respond immediately to Rapid Responses, arrest, or STAT situations, maintaining artificial airways and performing cardiac compressions.
• Set up and maintain oxygen equipment according to protocol.

Schedule

• Ideal: Three 12-hour shifts weekly (36-hour guarantee) on a 4-week repeating schedule.
• Typical shifts include:

  • Monday and Tuesday: 5:30am - 6:00pm (12-hour day shifts)
  • Two Wednesdays per month: 5:30pm - 6:00am (12-hour night shift)
  • One weekend shift (Saturday or Sunday): 5:30am - 6:00pm (12-hour day shift)
• Alternative schedule available if ideal schedule cannot be met.

Required Qualifications

• Minimum 2+ years of experience as a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT).
• Active RRT certification through The National Board of Respiratory Care (NBRC).
• Active Michigan state license for Respiratory Therapist.
• Current American Heart Association certifications:

  • BLS (Basic Life Support)
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support)
  • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
• Active Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification.
• Work history and skills checklist relevant to respiratory therapy, current within 1 year.
• Two supervisory reference forms completed within the last two years.

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous travel work experience preferred (not required).

Additional Information

• Candidates must reside outside a 100-mile radius of the facility (local candidates will not be considered).
• Electronic Medical Record system used: Epic.

This position requires strong clinical skills in respiratory therapy, emergency response, and patient care in a rural hospital setting.
