Job Opportunity: Radiographer (Radiologic Technologist)

Location: West Bloomfield, Michigan
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Summary

Under the direction of a Radiologist, perform radiologic procedures to evaluate pathological conditions as ordered by a physician. Use independent judgment to determine appropriate radiographic techniques, positioning, and safety practices.

Key Responsibilities

• Explain examination procedures and prepare patients for imaging.
• Review clinical data and obtain additional patient history as needed.
• Prepare procedure rooms and maintain supplies.
• Analyze patient anatomy, set up equipment, and perform radiologic procedures manually to obtain diagnostic images.
• May select and administer intravenous contrast media; monitor patients for reactions and provide immediate care if needed.
• Apply radiation protection principles, including shielding and dose reduction techniques.
• Prepare and maintain sterile equipment and follow infection control protocols.
• Ensure patient safety, privacy, confidentiality, and comfort throughout procedures.
• Complete all required documentation, logs, and patient records.
• Assist in teaching and educating new hires and students as needed.
• Manage image quality and documentation within imaging and radiology information systems.
• Collaborate with Radiologists to confirm clinical protocols before studies.
• Demonstrate excellent communication, teamwork, and customer service skills consistently.

Physical Demands / Working Conditions

• Work in hospital settings including fixed units and mobile units in areas such as inpatient departments, operating rooms, and emergency rooms.
• Potential exposure to radiation, high-voltage equipment, and contagious patients.
• Occasionally lift or move equipment and/or patients exceeding 10 lbs.

Required Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED completion or ongoing maintenance of required continuing education hours.
• Registered Radiologic Technologist (ARRT-R) certification.
• Minimum of 2 years of Radiographer (Radiologic Technologist) experience, including experience within the last year.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Experience in outpatient settings, including outpatient exams.
• Fluoroscopy fluency, specifically gastrointestinal (GI) fluoroscopy.
• Experience performing exams in outpatient and Emergency Room (ER) environments.
• Proficiency with Epic electronic health record system.
