Registered Nurse – Labor & Delivery

Location: Mount Shasta, California
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Description

Seeking an experienced Labor & Delivery RN for a travel assignment in a hospital setting. The role involves working primarily in the Family Birth Center with a small unit of 3 rooms, with possible crossover to MedSurg if needed.

Required Qualifications

Minimum 2 years of Labor & Delivery nursing experience
Active California RN license
Certifications required:
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support)
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program)
- Advanced AWHONN (Association of Women’s Health, Obstetric and Neonatal Nurses) including Advanced Fetal Monitoring (AFM)
COVID-19 vaccination certification required

Work Details

Patient ratios: 1:1 or 1:4
EMR system: Cerner
Charge nurse responsibilities included
No nurse aides available
12-hour night shifts, every other week (EOW)
Floating primarily to MedSurg for tasking; orientation provided based on unit and experience
Common patient types: Labor & Delivery patients, including care during C-sections (baby care with assistance from respiratory therapy and anesthesia)
Approximately 150-175 births per year
May be the only L&D nurse on site, with a second L&D nurse on call
Neonates under 36 weeks gestation are typically transferred to higher-level care facilities

Respiratory therapy available 24/7
Pharmacy not available 24/7
No tele or ventilator patients
Hospital-issued scrub color: Ceil Blue
Holiday work on permanent staff rotation

Notes

Floor-specific orientation is provided for floating units
Nurse will assist with newborn care during C-sections
Prior travel experience is not specified as required for this position
