Job Description

• Specialty: Medical Surgical Registered Nurse (RN)
• Patient Ratio: Approximately 1:7 (team nursing model with support from PCC, RN, etc.)
• On-Call: As needed
• Weekend Requirement: As needed (no weekend block scheduling except possible exceptions)
• Locals: Not accepted (strict 100-mile radius rule)
• Pending License: Not accepted; must comply with Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC) guidelines
• Trauma Level: Level I Trauma experience required
• Facility Type: Short Term Acute Care, Level I Trauma Center
• Prior Travel Experience: Required
• Large Hospital Experience: Required
• First-time travelers: Not accepted unless 3+ years recent experience

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in Tennessee
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
• Minimum 3 years of recent Medical Surgical nursing experience (required for first-time travelers)
• At least 2 years of Medical Surgical nursing experience, including experience within the last year
• Experience working with Level I Trauma patients
• One completed travel assignment
• Large hospital experience
• ACLS certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
• BLS certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
• NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
• Electronic Fetal Monitoring (EFM) certification
• Advanced AWHONN certification

Additional Requirements

• Background checks including statewide, county, federal, and education verification (within 60 days)
• Sex offender search and Tennessee Adult Abuse Registry check (for TN facilities)
• Two recent professional references
• Skills checklist and competency exams updated annually
• Photo for badge meeting strict guidelines (passport-style, no glasses glare, no hats, no filters)
• Facility-specific dress code: Navy blue scrubs for RNs, no prints or embroidery, business casual with lab coat for RN Case Managers
• Confidentiality acknowledgment signed prior to start
• Submission of all required documentation at time of application (no late submissions accepted)

Scheduling & Work Environment

• Night shift with 48-hour work weeks
• Team nursing model with support staff
• On-call and weekend shifts as needed
• No block scheduling except possible weekend block consideration
• Strict compliance with facility policies and documentation requirements

This position is ideal for experienced Medical Surgical RNs with prior travel experience who are comfortable working in a Level I Trauma Center environment and meeting strict credentialing and compliance standards.
