Job Description

• Specialty: Registered Nurse in Emergency Room (ER)
• Start Date: Next applicable orientation date (3-4 weeks out)
• Required Experience: Minimum 2 years of ER nursing experience
• First-time travelers accepted
• Weekend Requirement: 2 weekends per month
• On-call: Not required
• Floating: Yes, may float within scope to nearby hospitals within 20 miles
• Block scheduling: Not accommodated
• Locals accepted at same rate
• Pending license not accepted
• Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours for 3x12 shifts or 40 hours for 8/10 shifts
• Epic electronic health record experience at level 3 or 4 required
• Facility is smoke-free; all travelers must be nicotine-free (negative 10 panel drug screen + nicotine test required)

Required Certifications

• AHA BLS (Basic Life Support)
• ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
• PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
• NIHSS (NIH Stroke Scale Certification) - must be obtained prior to start

Required Qualifications

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Florida
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
• Minimum 2 years of Emergency Department (ED) / Emergency Room (ER) nursing experience, including experience within the last year
• Current BLS certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
• Current ACLS certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
• Current PALS certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
• NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
• Experience with Epic electronic health record system

Compliance & Onboarding Requirements

• Proof of I9 or attestation
• Government-issued photo ID required during hours of service
• Background checks including 7-year criminal history, EPLS/GSA/SAM, HHS/OIG
• Florida AHCA Level II fingerprint clearance required prior to start
• Drug Testing: Negative 10-panel drug screen within 1 year of start (no FL medical marijuana card accepted)
• Physical exam within 6 months of start
• Immunizations and titers required: Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Hepatitis B, Varicella
• Negative TB test or chest x-ray within 1 year (annual updates required)
• Seasonal flu vaccination required (medical/religious exemptions allowed)
• COVID vaccination series or approved medical/religious exemption required
• 2 professional references within 2 years required
• Pass/fail testing (EKG/Medication) during orientation
• Completion of online training modules prior to start (must be done on a computer using Google Chrome)
• Acknowledgement of privacy policies and safety manuals

Additional Notes

• All requested time off (RTO) must be submitted upfront; late requests likely will not be approved
• Candidates must prioritize time-sensitive Epic modules once confirmed for assignment
• Facility is smoke-free and requires nicotine testing with no exceptions
• Candidates with prior background check hits may experience longer clearance times
• Orientation and onboarding may take multiple days and must be completed before start date

This position is ideal for experienced ER Registered Nurses who are comfortable working in a fast-paced acute care teaching hospital environment, have strong Epic skills, and meet all licensure and compliance requirements.
