Job Opportunity: Stepdown Registered Nurse
Location: Memphis, Tennessee
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Description
- Unit: Stepdown / Med Surg Overflow / Cardiovascular Experience
- Shift: 36 or 48 hours (schedule may change during interview)
- Nurse-to-patient ratio: 1:6/7 (team nursing ratios)
- On-call and weekend shifts as needed
- No weekend block scheduling (weekend block may be considered)
- Local candidates within 100-mile radius not accepted
- Pending licenses not accepted; must comply with Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC) guidelines
- Return to Office (RTO) restrictions apply; must be included at submission
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse license in Tennessee
- Minimum 2 years of trauma experience, including trauma experience within the last year
- Minimum 2 years of stepdown (stepdown/med-surg) experience
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- ACLS certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- BLS certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
- Prior travel nursing experience
- Experience working in a large hospital setting
Additional Requirements
- Background check within 60 days of start (statewide, county, federal, education verification)
- Drug screening: Negative 10-panel drug test within 30 days of start (no pending results allowed)
- Physical exam within 1 year of start, attesting ability to meet job demands
- Fit test for 3M N-95 masks within 1 year of start (must pass without limitations)
- Immunizations required: Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Hepatitis B (proof of vaccination or positive titer)
- TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year, updated annually
- Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required during flu season (Oct 1 - Apr 30)
- Two recent professional references required
- Skills checklist and internal evaluation may be required for contract extensions
Work Environment & Dress Code
- Short-term acute care, Level I Trauma Center
- Scrub colors: Navy blue for RNs; no prints or embroidered scrubs allowed
- Business casual with white lab coat for RN Case Managers
- Strict photo badge requirements (passport-style photo, no hats, no glasses glare, no filters)
Notes
- First-time travel nurses not accepted
- All required documents and certifications must be current and uploaded prior to start
- Flu exemption requests require detailed documentation and may delay start date
- Candidates must comply with all facility-specific onboarding and compliance requirements
This position is ideal for experienced travel RNs with trauma and large hospital experience seeking a 13-week contract in a Level I Trauma Center environment.
