Registered Nurse - Telemetry
Location: Augusta, Georgia
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 16 weeks
Job Summary
- Work on a telemetry unit caring for adult to geriatric patients.
- Patient diagnoses include CHF, MI/chest pain (pre- and post-cath), dysrhythmias (pre- and post-device implants), hypo-/hypertension, pleural effusion, sepsis, PE/DVT/vascular issues.
- Nurse-to-patient ratio approximately 1:4-5 with 16 rooms.
- Unit uses Epic electronic health record system, Pyxis medication system, and SBAR communication.
- Scrub color: Navy Blue.
- Return to office (RTO) maximum 7 days.
- Weekend shifts every other weekend.
- Floating within facility/scope of practice as needed.
- No call requirements.
- Holiday work expectations: If 1 major holiday falls during assignment, expected to work it; if 2 holidays, work both; if 3 holidays, work 2 of them.
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Georgia.
- Minimum 2 years of telemetry nursing experience, with telemetry experience within the last year.
- BLS certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
- ACLS certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
- NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification.
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).
- Experience with Epic electronic health record system.
Orientation & Compliance
- Orientation hours depend on contract length (e.g., 16 weeks = 16 hours orientation).
- Background check required within 30 days prior to start.
- Education verification required; can be pending at start with proof it is in process.
- Physical exam within 12 months required.
- Drug screening: Negative 10-panel drug screen within 60 days of start; results must be available before start.
- Immunizations and health documents required:
- TB test or chest x-ray within 12 months
- TB questionnaire annually
- MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccination or positive titer
- Varicella vaccination or positive titer
- Hepatitis B surface antibody titer or signed declination
- Flu vaccination or declination (seasonal)
- Tdap highly recommended
Work Environment & Additional Information
- Floating within the facility as needed.
- Every other weekend work schedule.
- Expected to work major holidays as outlined.
- Full compliance with all credentialing, background checks, and health requirements is necessary to avoid assignment delays.
- Clinical screening will be conducted to determine fit for the unit.
- Local candidates accepted at the same rate.
