Description

Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse - Neuro ICU

Location: Madison, Wisconsin
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Shift Details

  • Evening/Night shifts
  • 12-hour shifts (1900-0730)
  • Every other weekend and some holidays
  • Start dates available: April 20, May 4, or May 18, 2026

Requirements/Qualifications

  • Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Wisconsin
  • Minimum 2 years of Neuro ICU experience, including experience within the last year
  • Minimum 2 years of acute care experience within the past 3 years
  • One completed travel nursing assignment
  • American Heart Association (AHA) Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification
  • American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
  • Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
  • Experience with Intracranial Pressure (ICP) monitoring (Intraparenchymal Cerebral Pressure) or ventriculostomy (ventricular)
  • Basic Arrhythmia experience
  • Experience with Epic electronic health record system

Licensure & Certifications

  • Wisconsin Registered Nurse (RN) license or compact license required
  • American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
  • AHA Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification required

Additional Requirements

  • Prior travel experience required (first-time travelers not accepted)
  • Must complete and pass facility-specific Telemetry testing (Adult or Pediatric as applicable)
  • Background checks and caregiver screening per Wisconsin state mandates
  • Compliance with facility-specific health and vaccination requirements (e.g., TB test, MMR, Varicella, Hepatitis B, Flu vaccine or approved exemptions)
  • Drug screening as per standard clinical requirements
  • Completion of required competency exams and medication/pharmacology tests as applicable

Important Notes

  • Candidates must complete all required documentation and verifications prior to start
  • Facility requires ongoing monthly monitoring for certain background checks
  • Strict testing and remediation process for Telemetry exams with limited attempts allowed
  • Facility-specific forms and acknowledgments (e.g., safety manual, communicable disease form) must be completed

  • Two clinical references within the last 3 years required
  • Employment application and annual skills checklist required

This position is ideal for experienced Neuro ICU RNs with acute care and telemetry skills who have prior travel contract experience and meet Wisconsin licensure and certification requirements.
