Description

Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse - Emergency Room

Location: Greensboro, North Carolina
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Work Schedule

  • 3x12 hour night shifts (7:00 PM - 7:30 AM)
  • 2 weekend shifts or 4 weekend days per 6 weeks
  • Holidays as needed
  • No on-call required

Required Experience

  • Minimum 2 years of experience in Emergency Department (ED)
  • First-time travelers are welcome (prior travel experience not required)

Required Certifications

  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
  • BLS (Basic Life Support)
  • NIH Stroke Certification (required for all ER RNs)
  • Pass/Fail EKG exam required (2 attempts allowed, must score 82% or higher)

Preferred Certifications

  • CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute)
  • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
  • TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course)
  • Previous Charge RN and Level 2 Trauma experience

Required Skills & Competencies

  • EPIC electronic health record system experience required
  • Medication/Pharmacology competency exam (must score 80% or higher)
  • Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam (pass/fail, 2 attempts max)

License Requirements

  • Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license for North Carolina
  • Primary source license verification required within 30 days of start
  • NURSYS verification required within 60 days of start

Compliance & Background Requirements

  • Government-issued photo ID (Driver’s License or State ID)
  • Social Security Card
  • Background check within 60 days covering all locations lived/worked/schooled in past 7 years
  • Education verification (Associate’s degree in nursing or higher required)
  • Transcript/Diploma as proof of highest education
  • Negative 10-panel drug screen within 40 days of start
  • Immunizations and health documents including:
    • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap vaccine proof
    • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 6 months
    • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccination or positive titer
    • Hepatitis B titer or declination
    • Varicella vaccination or positive titer
    • Seasonal flu vaccination or approved exemption
  • Fit mask test (N95) completed within current calendar year and updated annually

Additional Requirements

  • 2 supervisory references required for clinical positions (one within 12 months, one within 24 months)
  • Employment application/resume with 7-year work history
  • Verification of all employment within last 5 years
  • Annual skills checklist with a one-week grace period for renewal
  • Facility-specific documents including health history form, dress code acknowledgment, and floating policy acknowledgment
  • Orientation safety manual acknowledgment
  • Acknowledgment of pass/fail testing policies

Requirements/Qualifications

  • Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in North Carolina
  • Minimum 2 years of Emergency Department (ED) experience, including experience within the last year
  • ACLS certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
  • BLS certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
  • EKG competency
  • Medication Administration (MAB) competency
  • Experience with EPIC electronic health record system
  • Associate of Science in Nursing or Associate Degree in Nursing
  • Orientation Safety Manual Acknowledgement

Important Notes

  • Candidate must be flexible with scheduling and aware of zero-tolerance policy for tardiness and unexcused absences
  • Compliance deadlines are strict and must be met prior to start date
  • Candidate photo for badge must meet strict facility requirements (no selfies, solid color background, business casual or uniform attire)
  • EPIC test required for RNs starting 9/19/23 (2 attempts allowed, 80% passing score)
