Physical Therapist (PT) - Travel Assignment

Location: Redwood City, California
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Description

A hospital in California is seeking an experienced Physical Therapist for a travel assignment focused on inpatient care. The position involves working with a diverse patient population including acute care, ICU, med-surg, oncology, and cardiology patients. Experience with orthopedic cases, total joints, ventilated patients, and acute care is essential.

Schedule & Work Details

• 8-hour shifts with varied start times (8:30am-5pm, 9am-5:30pm, 9:30am-6pm, or 10:30am-7pm)
• Workdays typically Tuesday through Saturday
• Weekend shifts may be required; a weekday off is provided when working weekends
• Holiday work is mandatory for all staff
• No floating to other units except outpatient PT may float to inpatient
• Brief floor-specific orientation (usually one day or less)
• No telehealth; may treat vented patients in ICU
• In-house hospitalist/intensivist coverage during daytime hours

Patient Population & Unit Information

• Inpatient acute care only (no skilled nursing or acute rehab)
• Units include med-surg, telemetry, ICU, oncology, and cardiology (including cardiac surgeries)
• Ventilator management experience required
• Rehab tech support available

Required Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of acute care Physical Therapy experience (higher of any stated requirements)
• Active California Physical Therapy license
• BLS certification
• COVID-19 vaccination required

Additional Information

• Electronic Medical Record system: Cerner
• Dress code: burgundy polo with dark pants (lab coats optional)
• No on-call or floating outside of outpatient to inpatient PT
• Staffing schedules created about a month in advance
