Occupational Therapy Assistant (OTA) - Long Term Care (LTC)

Job Description

• Execute specialized therapy plans designed by the Occupational Therapist, guiding patients through therapeutic exercises and activities to improve motor skills and coordination.
• Teach patients how to perform Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) such as bathing, dressing, and eating, often using adaptive techniques.
• Instruct patients and families on the use of adaptive equipment like reachers, mobility aids, or modified kitchen utensils.
• Monitor and document patient progress, behavioral changes, and safety concerns; report findings to the supervising OT to adjust treatment plans as needed.
• Provide emotional encouragement to patients and train caregivers on assisting with home programs.
• Prepare treatment areas, clean equipment, and assist with administrative duties such as scheduling and billing.

Required Qualifications

• Valid Occupational Therapist license in Texas
• Minimum 2 years of Occupational Therapy Assistant (OTA) experience in a Long Term Care (LTC) setting
• Experience in a Long Term Care setting
• Occupational Therapist Assistant experience

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with Department of Rehabilitation (DOR) is preferred.
