Registered Nurse (RN) - Long Term Care

Location: Beaver Dam, Wisconsin
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Facility Type

• Nursing home attached to a hospital
• Approximately 70 beds/residents, majority private

Patient Population

• Dementia, frail elderly, rehabilitation patients

Work Environment

• EMR system: ECS
• Nurse-to-patient ratios:

  • RNs: 1:20
  • LPNs: 1:20
  • CNAs: 1:8
• Interdisciplinary team includes therapy, administration, social workers, activities, dietary, housekeeping
• Respiratory therapist on-site 24/7
• Pharmacy on-site with medication dispensing system

Job Duties

• Charting and assessments
• Charge nurse responsibilities
• Medication administration
• Clinical skills including IVs, catheters, ostomy care
• Floating between units as needed

Schedule

• Block schedule with 8-hour shifts
• Day and evening shifts staffed with 4 nurses and 7 aides
• Night shift staffed with 2 nurses and 3-4 aides
• Weekend requirement: every other weekend
• Holiday requirement: available for at least half of holidays during assignment
• No on-call or standby required

Required Qualifications

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Wisconsin
• Minimum 1 year of Skilled Nursing experience within the last year
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
• BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
• Experience working with geriatric and elderly patients

Additional Information

• No telemetry monitors on unit; RNs do not read strips
• No requirement to attend team conferences for acute inpatient rehab
• Dress code: any solid color, clean and professional
• Orientation varies based on skills
• Must clock in and out at the facility
• Prior employment with this facility requires a minimum 6-month gap before reapplying
