Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse - MS/Tele

Location: Rochester, New York
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Start Date: May 5, 2026
Shift: 3x12 hour shifts, Midnight shift (3:00 AM - 3:00 PM)
Weekend Schedule: Every other weekend
Floating: Required
Travel Experience: First time travelers accepted
Local Candidates: Not accepted (must live more than 75 miles away)

Unit Description

• MedSurg unit with patient ratios ranging from 1:5 to 1:7
• 26 beds focused on post PCI, pacemakers, AICDs, post MI, and cardiac pharmacological interventions
• 36-bed Hematology/Oncology unit with a developing bone marrow transplant (BMT) program
• Fast-paced, high acuity patient population including chemotherapy patients and those recovering counts or admitted with chemo side effects
• Opportunity to cross-train in the Medical ICU (MICU) to better serve patient population
• Cohesive and supportive staff environment

Required Qualifications

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in New York
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
• Minimum of 1 year of MedSurg/Telemetry nursing experience within the last year
• Chemotherapy Certification
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) issued by the American Heart Association
• Basic Life Support (BLS) issued by the American Heart Association
• Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) issued by the American Heart Association
• Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification
• Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC) certification
• Electronic Fetal Monitoring (EFM) certification
• NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
• Proficiency in Epic electronic health record system
• Ability to manage MedSurg RN patient ratios from 1:5 to 1:7

Additional Requirements

• Must be willing to float to other units as needed
• Must be able to work the specified shift and weekend schedule
• Must complete all required health and compliance documentation within 5 days of contract signing, including but not limited to:

  • Physical exam (within 1 year)
  • Fit mask test (annual)
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray (within 1 year)
  • Immunizations and titers (Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Hepatitis B, Varicella)
  • Drug screening (within 30 days of start)
  • Flu vaccination or signed declination during flu season
  • Eye exam (Snellen, within 1 year)
• Background checks including 7-year criminal history, EPLS/GSA/SAM, HHS/OIG, and education verification required
• Government-issued photo ID required
• References and employment verification required (2 references within 3 years for certain candidates)

• Scrub color: Any combination of navy and white
• Facility is a tertiary care hospital with 528 staffed beds
• Locals are not accepted; candidate must reside more than 75 miles from the facility
• First-time travel nurses are welcome
