Job Opportunity: RN Step Down

Location: Milwaukee, Wisconsin
Employment Type: Long-Term Assignment (LTA)
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Description

• Work every other week (EOW) and every other holiday (EOH) schedule.
• Requires 2 years of experience in PCU (Progressive Care Unit) / Med-Surg Telemetry Acute Care.
• Placement will be on a unit with the greatest need, which may be PCU, Med-Surg, or Telemetry units based on the nurse’s skills.
• Candidates with Med-Surg or Stepdown RN experience are acceptable as both require the same credentialing.
• Must be willing and able to float onsite within skill set or to other sites within 40 miles if needed.

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in Wisconsin
• Minimum 2 years of experience in PCU (Progressive Care Unit), including experience within the last year
• Med-Surg and Telemetry experience
• BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
• ACLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) / Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
• Experience with Epic electronic health record system

Health and Compliance Requirements

• Documented proof of immunizations and health screenings including:

  • MMR (2 vaccines or positive titer; no declinations accepted)
  • Varicella (2 vaccines, serological evidence, or verified history; no declinations accepted)
  • Hepatitis B vaccination series completion or signed declination
  • Influenza vaccine during flu season (exemptions accepted with mask requirement)
  • Tdap vaccine valid within 10 years (no declinations accepted)
  • TB screening: 2-step PPD or IGRA test, with follow-up chest X-ray if positive, and annual TB questionnaire
• Fit test for respiratory protection (3M 1860 Regular, 1860 Small, or 1870+ masks) required annually.
• Annual drug screening (12 panel) and health statement of good health or physical exam prior to assignment start.

Additional Requirements

• Must provide professional references and employment verifications.
• Background checks including criminal history and EPLS (Excluded Parties List System) screening.
• Completion of onboarding education, competency exams, and unit-specific training as required.
• Valid driver's license or state ID matching required documentation standards.
• Completion of specialty exams, core competencies, EKG exam, color vision test, and NIH certification as applicable.

Notes

• Prior travel experience is not explicitly required for this position.
• Floating to other units or nearby sites may be required based on staffing needs.

This position is ideal for experienced Step Down or Med-Surg RNs with strong acute care skills looking for a 13-week assignment in Wisconsin.
