Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse - Emergency Room

Location: Burlington, North Carolina
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Details

  • Shift: 3x12 hour shifts, nights (7:00 PM - 7:30 AM)
  • Occasional 3 PM - 3 AM shifts as needed
  • Coverage includes every other week and holidays as needed
  • No on-call required
  • Patient population includes all ages
  • Special care populations: cancer, sepsis, medical emergencies, behavioral health
  • Department specialties include cath lab, women's health, and stroke care

Requirements/Qualifications

  • Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in North Carolina
  • Minimum 2 years of Emergency Department (ED) nursing experience, including experience within the last year
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
  • Current BLS (Basic Life Support) certification
  • Current ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) certification issued by the American Heart Association or American Red Cross
  • Proficiency in EKG (Dysrhythmia) interpretation and pass/fail EKG exam required
  • Experience with EPIC electronic health record system

Compliance & Documentation Requirements

  • Government-issued photo ID (Driver’s License or State ID)
  • Social Security Card
  • Background check within 60 days covering all locations lived/worked/schooled in past 7 years
  • Education verification (Associate's degree in nursing or higher required)
  • Transcript/Diploma as proof of highest education
  • NURSYS license verification within 60 days of start
  • Negative 10-panel drug screen within 40 days of start
  • Immunizations and health documents including:
    • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap vaccine proof
    • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 6 months
    • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccination or positive titer
    • Varicella vaccination or positive titer
    • Hepatitis B titer or declination
    • Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption
  • Fit mask test (N95) completed within current calendar year and updated annually
  • Physical exam (if applicable) within 12 months of start
  • Facility-specific documents including health history form, dress code acknowledgment, and job description review
  • Two supervisory references required from clinical assignments within the last 24 months (one within 12 months)
  • Employment application/resume with 7-year work history
  • Verification of all employment within last 5 years

Additional Information

  • Strict zero-tolerance policy for tardiness and unexcused absences
  • Candidates must be flexible with scheduling
  • Pass/Fail EKG exam required for all RNs regardless of specialty
  • Orientation safety manual acknowledgment required
  • Candidates must complete a medication/pharmacology competency exam and other competency exams as applicable
  • Candidates must review and sign floating policy and contractor equipment acknowledgment forms
  • Candidates will receive Workday login information two weeks prior to start for onboarding tasks including multi-factor authentication setup
