ICU Registered Nurse Travel/Contract Job in Georgia

• City: Newnan, Georgia

Job Summary

• Position: ICU Registered Nurse
• Unit: Oncology ICU floor that also includes Medical ICU (MICU)
• Focus: Surgical unit specializing in thoracic surgeries, skin flaps, chest tube management, and esophagectomies
• Dialysis: Use of Tablo for dialysis patients
• Support: Pharmacy, radiology, rapid response teams, respiratory services, social services, unit secretary
• Provider coverage includes Intensivist, Nurse Practitioner, CRNA, Anesthesiologist, and Hospitalist
• Systems used: Pyxis medication system, EPIC documentation, SBAR communication
• Orientation: 12 hours on the floor
• Scrubs: Black scrubs required, not provided
• Shift: 12-hour shifts, weekends as needed, schedule set by manager
• Patient ratio: ICU ratio 1:2; float pool includes MICU with 1:4 ratio
• Average daily census: 12 patients
• Beds: 25 beds in 21 rooms

Contract Length

• 13 weeks

Requirements/Qualifications

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Georgia
• Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
• Minimum 1 year of ICU (Intensive Care Unit) experience within the last year
• Experience in a Trauma Level II facility
• Interpretation and management of dysrhythmias
• Management of multi-system organ failure
• Care for chronic and acute renal failure patients
• Experience with continuous venovenous hemodialysis (CVVHD/CRRT)
• Central line care and management
• PICC line management
• Administration of continuous IV sedation
• Ability to titrate cardiac drips
• Ability to titrate vasoactive drips
• Chemotherapy administration
• Assistance with chest tube insertion and removal
• Care of ventilated patients including high flow nasal cannula (HFNC)

• Background checks, education verification, and various health documents required prior to start
• Physical exam within last 12 months required
• Negative TB test or chest X-ray required
• Required immunizations or titers: MMR, Varicella, Hepatitis B (positive titer only), Tdap within 10 years or declination
• Negative 10-panel drug screen within 30 days of start (including marijuana)
• Seasonal flu vaccination or facility-specific declination required during flu season
• Annual skills checklist and competency exams required as applicable

Required Licensure

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license for Georgia

This position is ideal for ICU RNs with oncology and surgical ICU experience who are comfortable managing complex critical care patients in a fast-paced environment. Prior travel experience is not required.
